The Doctor Who prequel “He Said, She Said” is up, and as you might have guessed, Trenzalore is the key to everything!

Don’t worry if you haven’t yet seen the episode “Nightmare in Silver,” as the prequel below doesn’t spoil its plot, unless of course you doubted that the Doctor would defeat the Cybermen. The Doctor and Clara each have a soliloquy as they meander around a room filled with the “props” from their time together.

The video doesn’t really answer any questions directly so much as it sums up the feelings of the Doctor and Clara about the mystery they are to each other. On the other hand, there were a few interesting tidbits of note from each one.

  • Clara declares meeting the Doctor is the best day ever, “the best day of your life.”
  • Clara states the best part of the Doctor is that “he really needs you.”
  • Clara seems to admit that she has fallen in love with the Doctor stating, “The trick is don’t fall in love. I do that trick quite a lot, sometimes twice in one day.”
  • Clara states she knows everything about him from the day they went to Trenzalore.

  • The Doctor declares that Clara is “perfect in every way for me…”
  • He calls her “My Clara.”
  • As he reminisces, he states, “Always exactly what I need…perfect, too perfect.”
  • The Doctor claims he discovered all about Clara the day they went to Trenzalore.

It’s obvious from the promos from the season finale that the last episode, “The Name of the Doctor,” takes place at Trenzalore, where Dorium predicted would be the Fall of the 11th, “where no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer.” So the question is, regarding timelines, is this prequel really more of a sequel?

What do you make of ‘He Said, She Said’?

    I think that she’s a fellow Timelord

    • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

Maybe the Doctor should check that red bag of hers for a fob watch…

  • Poppy

I think she is the Doctor’s wife from Gallifrey

    • Julie

I hope the spoilers we know aren’t all there is. We learn what purpose Clara serves in the Doctor’s life but we don’t have spoilers about WHO she is exactly. And I really hope she does turn out to be his wife.

Clara jumps into a rift in the middle of the TARDIS wreck to save him.
It seems like Clara is dressed in a lot of different clothes, I didn’t watch old Who but people on forums says she looks like Sarah, Liz and Ace. I don’t see the resemblance of the clothes but maybe?
You can also see Bessie the car used by the 3rd, 4th and 5th Doctor drive by at 0:13. It drives by the same background/tree as it drove by in the “The Five Doctors” episodes.

Good eyes on spotting Bessie! I had to pause that like 6 times before I could decide what it was! I can see the Sarah Jane parallel, Liz I’m not as familiar with, but I’m definitely NOT getting an Ace vibe.

“Clara jumps into a rift in the middle of the TARDIS wreck to save him.” When I saw the clip to me it looked more like stands of DNA but more complex So my theory now is (Which is all very Rose Tylerish) that red stuff in the middle of the TARDIS where the console is suppose to be is in fact TARDIS DNA. Clara then steps into the DNA (doing this, I assume, to save the Doctor) fusing her own DNA with the TARDIS’ DNA. As we know the TARDIS exist simultaneously through all of time and space so when Clara fuses with the TARDIS she too exist through all of time and space, allowing her to be in the Doctor’s past and the Doctor’s future.

An maybe the TARDIS didn’t like her because A. We all know what happens whn you park a TARDIS in a TARDIS B. It was too early in the TARDIS’s timeline for her to know what Clara was going to become but she DID know she was TARDIS lik, so she didn’t want competition OR she knew what would happen and wanted to prevent it

  • goldensnidget92

Because he said “too perfect”, I’m now wondering if she’s been “made” by some of his enemies in order to sabotage him from the inside…

    • http://twitter.com/FailGloriously Hannah Howden

Yeah, this is starting to remind me a lot of the Pandorica…

    • Charlotte

Yeah, and it links back to what he said in Journey to the Centre of the Tardis. IIRC he asked her if she was a trick or a trap, and seemed relieved that she had no idea what he was talking about.

  • grlwhoswaitingforthisstrytoend

she defiantly has to have something todo with the great intelligence.. no way is she a time lord..she is “perfect” for the doctor.. THINK PEOPLE

    • Darcus Williams

      She can’t DIE!!!

    • Julie

I don’t think the Great Intelligence made her…nor do I believe she is a trap. If you read the spoilers from the season finale, it makes more sense.

  • Matthew Goldenberg

I think my biggest question is: did Clara not notice the painting of herself in the background?

    • http://twitter.com/MillerJosiah Josiah Miller

It’s not literal. This stuff is not literally lying around. They aren’t really talking to the audience either. And the Doctor and Clara aren’t exactly frozen. It’s all figurative. If it was real, we would know something about the finale

  • Chicken

I think the episode will have something to do with the relationship between the Doctor and companions. In the promo it seems Clara is dressed like past companions.

Anyway, I’m so caught up in the mystery of the next episode that it’s not really hitting me that’s the finale.

  • Samma

Doctor Who, you know I love you, but this episode better have some freaking amazing payoff. This entire season has been filler episodes hinting at this conclusion. Do not disappoint me.

    • http://twitter.com/MillerJosiah Josiah Miller

When Moffat does interlocked story arcs like Series 6, people bellyache. They weren’t filler. They built up Amy and Rory leaving and now Clara, while still telling engaging stories in a way that people don’t have to see EVERY episode.

  • Martha Jones

So. They keep meeting, but Clara never remembers. Going in opposite directions then? Like him and River, except this time, it’s the other way around? i.e. he remembers their past but she doesn’t? Is she (a regenerated) River? And that “Silence must fall”, “Silence will fall”, could it just mean exactly that? That the Silence “will fall, must fall” if and when they dare ask the question that leads to him revealing his name? Since, apparently, the only one who knows his name is River. What I don’t get yet is why there’s a tombstone with the name “River Song” on it, since River didn’t die but when to live on forever in a sort of “cyberspace”. Unless… all of that never actually happened…??? Looking forward to next week’s ep!

  • doctorwhofan

There is definitely something weird going on. just the way they’re so similar, i get the idea that maybe clara is a future regeneration of the doctor?

  • https://twitter.com/JassyPugh Jasmine P

Anyone else think of Mary Poppins when he said “she’s practically perfect in every way for me?”

    • grlwhoswaitingforthisstrytoend

no but the doctor has always reminded me of marry poppins… he can pull almost anything out of his pockets at any time!

  • PrisonerZero

I get the feeling that this prequel is non-canonical

    • Julie

Why? It was played on a television station directly after Doctor Who. All the prequels are considered canon, at least the writers seem to think so.

  • SonickedYou

The Whouffle shippers in Tumblr actually went crazy because of this.

    • Julie

And rightly so! Clara said she has to keep herself from falling in love, and the Doctor called her ‘my Clara’.

  • loppy98354

although i really hope its not, im starting to think more and more that clara is River or more hopefully an old companion like Donna. look in the background during the prequel apparently the clue is in the props. i guess theres props from when the doctors met her before she was clara? i think shes been created but i dont think shes evil if she was river wouldnt be as calm/nice to her (trailer)

  • Fariboles

This “prequel” sums up pretty much everything that’s off with Moffat’s writing : he has to put the words “[Clara] is perfect in every way for me” in the Doctor’s mouth because he couldn’t/wouldn’t (or anyway : didn’t) show it in all of series 7.2. And he has to suddenly point out all of Clara’s interrogations in a monologue, with a vague justification as to her previous lack of curiosity. This is such an artificial and lazy build-up.

We all know Clara is never who we thinks she is. She is hiding something, whether she knows it or not. In both asylum of the Dareks and the Snowman, she is no who seems to be at first. So instead of her being inside a darlek, could it be something that is inside of her?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Timothy-Schmidt/1384042981 Timothy Schmidt

Clara is River… or the twelfth Doctor… or someone else.
