Two new images from The Mortal Instruments have been released. Check out the Magnus character poster and a new photo of Simon.

Hello, High Warlock of Brooklyn! Magnus Bane is definitely a fan favorite and Godfrey Gao certainly doesn’t disappoint. For Gao, this is his first American film, and while talking to MTV, he said he felt the pressure. “There’s actually a really big pressure because I know there are a lot of fans out there, and everyone loves Magnus Bane, and I love Magnus Bane,” he said. “So I just wanted to play a sort of cool-looking Magnus Bane, but I also wanted to bring out the flamboyant side. The party side of Magnus Bane, so hopefully everybody can enjoy what I bring to you on screen.”

Magnus’ poster states that he is an instrument of chaos. What do you think that means, and will there be more instruments of chaos? Do you think there will be more types of instruments?

Robert Sheehan is definitely Simon! The image above is clearly from the time he spends at the institute with Clary and the other shadowhunters.

The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones releases on August 23. What are you most looking forward to seeing?

Magnus, damn that man is hot

  • BritBrat

    *faints at the Magnus poster*

  • Tony

Yes! he’s skinny and not all unaturally buff!

  • Glaciusx

    That Magnus poster….(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • Tessa

Love the Magnus poster. “An instrument of chaos”, I can’t think of a better way of describing Magnus. My only problem is you can’t really make out his cat eyes though.

Simon is going to have to buff up Jacob (taylor lautner) style for the 2nd film if it gets optioned.

by optioned if you mean going to be produced and made well then you missed this http://www.hypable.com/2013/05/08/mortal-instruments-city-of-ashes-movie/

        OH!!! well isnt that wonderful!!!

    • Sheechiibii

Why? I don’t remember him ever being described as buff in any way? Simon’s always been skinny…

      • http://twitter.com/Hmarjus2 Martrel A. Howard

Simon wasnt beefy but he was muscularly defined in his vamp stage…from that image he looks a little small which is to be expected of “normal” Simon

        • Sheechiibii

I don’t remember ever reading that. Maybe I’ll need to have another look. I know he got more attractive (skin, eyes, hair), but more muscular? Don’t remember that.

          • http://twitter.com/Hmarjus2 Martrel A. Howard

You see it through Clary’s eyes when shes actually looking at him in detail and her comments about vampires not being over weight and it enhancing everything about them and blah blah blah

          • Sheechiibii

Yeah, I remember all that, I just don’t remember her ever mentioning that he’d gained muscles. Unless it’s mentioned further on in the series? I’ve only read the first three.

          • Mariae Montero

SImon’s always been lean. I never pictured simon as Taylor Lautner buff. That’s so out of character for Simon… imo…

          • Sheechiibii

Yes, I’ve since reread much of those scenes and nowhere is it ever mentioned that Simon is more muscular. In fact, after being turned he’s still described as lean and other such things quite a lot.

  • lorepottter

Simon BIG eyebrows i cant see anything else

  • Sheechiibii

Oh man, everytime I see a new Magnus shot I just about melt. And I love Robert as Simon, these two are such perfect casting!

With each new picture I see of Simon I get more and more excited for the movie…absolutely perfect casting for him! =D
