For weeks rumors had pegged the Les Miserables movie cast to perform a couple of their songs at Sunday night’s Academy Awards.

The rumors true, and the performance slayed.

Les Miserables‘ 3-minute medley began with the film’s original song “Suddenly,” then transitioned into a mash up of “One Day More” and “I Dreamed A Dream” led by Best Supporting Actress Anne Hathaway. The entire lead cast was there: Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Helena Bonham Carter were all singing live. Watch below:

The Les Miserables DVD/Blu-ray are on the way. It’ll debut next month with a boat load of special features including commentary from director Tom Hooper. Also arriving next month is the extended version of the Les Miserables soundtrack, featuring fourty-two tracks compared to the Highlights album’s twenty-two.

It was a big night for music at the Academy Awards. Performances include Adele with “Skyfall” and Barbra Streisand with “The Way We Were.” On the award front, took home the Best Original Song award in what was a no-contest, to be sure, for “Skyfall” from Skyfall, while Mychael Danna won for Best Original Score for Life of Pi. Did they release Catherine’s & JHUD’s performances as well? That holy tribute was spectacular and without a doubt the best part of the show.

I love that Amanda and Eddie were hugging during the performance. Gives a nice touch to the whole Cosette-Marius thing. Also, not ashamed to say that I teared up during this performance.

All I see is Aaron Tveit. He walked in and immediately owned that stage. His stage presence is incredible.

    • d3erudite

He really should get more credit for his amazing performance and talent.

  • lily

    • Denise

      O yes!!

  • Maru

Aaron is awesome. He just walked in like “Hey, I’m fucking doing history” and owned the number. Samantha was sublime. Anne, of course, no words to describe her. And Russell with all that kill-the-stupid-children thing, love him!

  • DarrlynM

I would love to see JHud’s performance. I mean, standing ovation anyone?

  • luna97831

there are too many beautiful people in one video.

  • Nancy

I was looking forward to seeing the whole cast perform, but especially Aaron Tveit, as he has been practically ignored by the press. But then they omitted one of his very few lines. He still was a stand out.

I thought he was fantastic. Maybe I just like the total difference. It’s a little different, but I love it.

  • hpatdh33

I love how Helena is utterly indifferent. Lie she really doesn’t want to be there.

  • Caroline

Aaron and Samantha were both incredible in this. Samantha’s voice definitely sounded the best, and Aaron’s stage presence was sublime.

  • bhindthecurtain

i’m sorry but i think it sounded absolutely terrible and I’m blaming russel crowe for killing the timing for everyone else

  • randyb1724

I can’t not chuckle at Russell Crowe. But this was awesome!

  • mahdi khamis

i havent seen Les Mis yet but have spent days listening to its music. I just find it hard to believe that a movie with such beautiful music deserves the hate that some critics were pouring on it..i fully intend to watch it when it comes out on dvd
