Following up on evidence over the weekend, 20th Century Fox has now confirmed that The Fault in Our Stars will be directed by Josh Boone.

“John’s book came along just when I needed it,” Boone told The Hollywood Reporter. “It pierced my heart and helped me deal with my grief. I laughed and cried and was left with an overwhelming feeling of hope. That our lives matter, that the love and kindness we share with others reverberates long after we’re gone.

”

“I feel the weight and responsibility to get this right, and give his readers and devoted fans as pure a translation as possible… We hope to create a little infinity within this film that fans can revisit over and over.”

Boone’s only other movie experience is writing and directing Stuck in Love, which we wrote about last March. The film stars Logan Lerman, Kristen Bell, and Lily Collins. In the film, according to the official synopsis, “an acclaimed writer, his ex-wife, and their teenaged children come to terms with the complexities of love in all its forms over the course of one tumultuous year.” It hits select theaters this April.

The Fault in Our Stars was written by John Green and the movie will be produced by Wyck Godfrey. Shailene Woodley is in the running to play Hazel Grace, as we exclusively confirmed last Friday.

I’M really excited for this movie! I hope he will make a good director. I don’t care about experience so much as connection to the book which he seems to have

  • Abi

I’m sorry but I cannot see her as Hazel, she doesn’t really fit how I envisaged her, I don’t know, it just doesn’t work :/ however, I could Logan lerman playing gus, he fits the description really well and has worked with the director before….

I dislike the idea of Shailene being Hazel, but if it happens it happens. In the end, she might be a great Hazel. We just can’t know for sure until the film hits theaters. I’m just happy that it has obtained a passionate director hoping to faithfully adapt it. To me, that’s the most important thing.

I like the fact that he understands the situation.
Better bring his A game for this.

    I’m pretty excited about this!

  • Don’t ruin TFIOS

Shailene woodley should not play hazel. She’s not a good actress; all she does is cry on secret life

  • Don’t ruin TFIOS

Shailene woodley is not even a good actress. All she does is cry. That’s so in-Hazel

  • Lexi

i will seriously sob if shailene plays hazel. no. they need a much better actress, all she does is cry on set in the secret life. and since that show has been dragged on so long, anyone who sees her in this movie will only be able to see her as the whiny teen mother who cant make up her mind on which boy to choose. you need a strong actress to play hazel grace, and surely you can see that shailene is NOT.

but Logan will be the perfect gus. that is exactly how i pictured him.
