A brand new trailer for Stephenie Meyer’s adaptation The Host, starring Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons and Jake Abel, has arrived online, just in time for Valentine’s day.

Directed by Andrew Niccol (In Time), The Host is gearing up for its release, as this is just the latest trailer on its marketing train. You can watch the brand new trailer below:

William Hurt and Diane Kruger also star in the adaptation, which is looking to capitalize on the Twilight audience as it hits theaters next month, March 29.

When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie Stryder will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about — Jared, Ian, her brother Jamie and her Uncle Jeb, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.

Back in January, Niccol, who also wrote the adaptation, spoke about the film with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “A lot of people said this can’t be done, but I thought, ‘I kind of like this.’ Of course, in the book, it’s easy to write on the page, but the characters — you’re hearing the thoughts of both of them. What I did to make it more cinematic, I had Wanderer actually speak, which instantly made it better, I think, from a cinematic viewpoint. But, of course, you can read on the page the exchanges.”

What do you think of this trailer for ‘The Host’?

I personally thought the book was just okay, but I was pleasantly surprised by that trailer! It looks pretty good!

    Looks awesome !

  • KleppMelk

This doesn’t look at all like the book I read, which is probably a good thing.

    • Sia

      You kidding me ?

      • KleppMelk

Why? Are you somehow unable to grasp the consept that some people might not hold the same opinion that you do?

        The Host was a trainwreck.

  • Enelya

This looks like it’s completely different from the book. They’ve changed EVERYTHING. Looks more like an action movie to me.

  • Dani

lots of new footage, looks great, can’t wait for the movie!

I thought that the book was okay, but I wasn’t a huge fan of it because the sci-fi elements were pretty unoriginal and undeveloped- but that was okay because that wasn’t the novel’s focus. I think that the production looks solid and I trust Sairorse Ronan, but I have to admit that I can’t get over how creepy the people with the host eye look. In some of those shots their heads look way too big for their bodies.

The book isn’t about how original or unoriginal the Sci-fi part was it really was about Melanie and Wanda and in my opinion that was developed. All stories have some form of similarities but it’s what you do with your characters and making them real ! The Host did that for many it’s too bad you didn’t feel that way.

The best of the trailer is Radioactive from Imagine Dragoons

I like the first trailer, but this one better because it really plays up the SciFi aspects instead of the romance, should hopefully bring in a different crowd.

Really loving this trailer, I’m hoping that the film has amped up the sci fi a bit more than the books. Steph definitely had some good ideas but I alway thought they were a little under cooked tbh. It seems they may have toned down the rough treatment of Wanderer as well, from what we’ve seen she’s always pretty healthy looking, in the book she’s almost constantly a mess for the first half.

The portrayal of the Souls still seems a bit off to me, all that shiny chrome I think. I know they need to visually differentiate but it doesn’t have to be so on the nose with the White/silver=purity thing. Just the eyes would have been enough. Also I’m hoping we see other Souls than the Seeker, so we understand that they are not out and out bad and that being the ‘enemy’ is a matter of perspective. We need to see that the Souls truly believe their actions are for the greater good of the planet.

The caves are almost straight out of my imagination, literally perfect, which is important since that’s where the bulk of the film is set. We still haven’t seen too much of Jake and Ian which I appreciate, I always felt the book were more than just a romance and I’m glad it isn’t being massively hyped in this trailer. Melanie’s/Wanda’s interactions with all the character is interesting and I hope we see some of that in the film.

This trailer has me seriously hyped for the end of March. With this and new episodes of Doctor Who and GOT around the same time it’s gonna be amazing =)

THE CAVES!! yes. i agree. the shots of the caves, however brief, look pretty cool.

It’s a trailer people of course there going to show the action parts but IT LOOKS LIKE THE BOOK TO ME don’t know what your talking about and I’ve read the book 5 or 6 times !

  • Corin Boswell

I can already see several differences but with this book-to-fim adaptation that’s probably a good thing. I think we’d be in for a slow start if it was totally book faithful.

honestly, having read the book and feeling fairly neutral about it, i find myself feeling the same way about this trailer. it has it’s interesting parts, for sure, but i dont get a REAL sense of what it’s about or how it’s the same or different. that being said, i’ll still probably see the movie cause i’m a huge fan of saoirse ronan, so hopefully this film won’t alter that, unless it’s the better, granted.

I have super mixed feelings… I love the book so much, but I’m also really excited/and not about the changes…ahhh….I’ll just wait for the movie!

I love it! I really love it! And I love the song — it became one of my most played songs after the last trailer.

I’m excited to see this because of the trailer but I’m afraid that the movie is going to be complete crap.
