There hasn’t been much news on the Legend of Korra front in the last few months, but here’s a roundup of a few bits and pieces to slake the information-thirst of Hypable’s Avatar fans.

News about The Legend of Korra has been hard to come by since the introduction of the second season at San Diego Comic-Con, and Nickelodeon and the show’s creators have remained largely silent on what’s to come. However, there are a few tidbits to fill the long wait for season 2 – even if they only make us hungrier for more!

Most significantly comes the (very) unofficial (but still decently reliable) information that recording has begun for season 3 of The Legend of Korra. In mid-October, voice actors Janet Varney (Korra), David Faustino (Mako) and PJ Byrne (Bolin) all tweeted hints that suggested they were recording a familiar project together.

Most tellingly, Seychelle Gabriel (Asami) tweeted her excitement that she was “reading the first script for season 3″ of The Legend of Korra, which makes it seem very likely that voice work is officially proceeding. However, there has still been no official confirmation of this possibility, and no word from Nickelodeon as to what this may mean for the release of season 2 or 3 in the future.

On a similar note, actress Grey DeLisle tweeted earlier this week that her involvement with Korra would not end with her season 2 character, “the Dark Spirit.”

No other information has been released about the Dark Spirit or DeLisle’s character for season 3, though it’s certainly exciting to know that DeLisle will remain a part of the Avatar recording team.

Finally, a two-part Legend of Korra “junior novelization” has been announced, which will cover the events of the first season. The first volume, Revolution, is due out on Jan. 8 of next year, and Endgame will follow on July 23. Both volumes will be written by Erica David, and are aimed at readers 12 and up.

Though the news is slim for now, more information will hopefully be forthcoming as the year winds down. It has been unofficially projected that season 2 will air in April 2013, which can’t come soon enough for us! As always, Hypable will keep you updated on any new developments for The Legend of Korra as soon as they are available.

What are your wildest hopes for season 2 of ‘The Legend of Korra’?

Janet Varney, my home girl, also recently stated on her wonderful podcast, The JV Club, that she had recently done some recording for Korra. Thanks for the post even though it’s pieces from the past. Definitely helps me maintain sanity during these rough Avatar-less months.

This is so off topic, completely off topic. But I gotta ask: Why is that in every story of the Avatar universe, Fire-benders are terrorizing small farm people (Amon’s story before we knew he was Noatak) or buringing villages (Jet’s story)? I love Fire-benders! They’re awesome!

Yah you never of a Earth-bender killing someone’s family

    • Sandora

Well, you know fire is associated with anger.. Maybe that’s what they’re thinking.

I’d say fire is associated with life.

I’d say fire is associated with fire AND life.

    • Shreya

Well, the story is set around one-two generations after the war so I’m assuming some harsh sentiments still exist between fire nations and the others.

I suppose it s a little like racism, it’s illegal now but there are still large divisions between people?
