After a long hiatus, the Supernatural season 8 premiere, “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” just finished airing. Share your thoughts here!
At the end of season 7, Dean and Castiel were transported to Purgatory after killing head leviathan Dick Roman, thwarting his plan to turn the human race into feeding stock for the ancient monster race. Meanwhile, Sam was left “well and truly alone” as Crowley captured the teenage prophet Kevin to have him decipher the Word of God.
Season 8 picks up a year later. Sam, who was left without a clue as to the whereabouts of his brother, turned to a normal life, including a dog and romance with a vet named Amelia. Dean, on the other hand, spent the year fighting for his life in Purgatory, becoming allies with a vampire named Benny, whom he escapes from Purgatory with.
This episode marks the reunion between the brothers and with Kevin, who informs the Winchesters that according to the Word of God, there is a way to seal the gates of Hell forever. Crowley, however, has no intention of making the mission easy for them.
This episode also marks Supernatural‘s return to a weeknight time slot after two surprisingly successful seasons on Friday nights.
