During San Diego Comic-Con an exlusive Man of Steel trailer was shown to some very lucky attendees, and now we have the exciting unseen footage.

Just yesterday we finally saw the official teaser trailer for the new Superman movie directed by Zack Snyder, starring Henry Cavill – Man of Steel. Now we have the unseen footage that was only shown to a very lucky few at Comic-Con.

UPDATE: The studio has requested that the video be removed. Below is a detailed description of the clip. Watch the official Man of Steel teaser trailer.

In the new footage we see what looks to be Clark Kent’s humble home on Earth, then we quickly move to him as an adult walking the streets, possibly as a drifter. As Clark’s (alien) father (Russell Crowe) narrates, we see flashbacks of Clark as a boy wearing a ragged red cape, he throws up his arms for a pose. Then a sequence is shown of Clark as a boy rescuing children in a bus that’s fallen into some frigid water. A woman is heard saying, “my son was in the bus, he saw what Clark did.”

Kevin Costner, who plays Clark’s Earth father, can be heard speaking to Clark about deciding what kind of man he wants to be, because “he’ll change the world.” Then a quick shot of Superman’s father (Russell Crowe) is shown, revealing his superhero suit underneath his shirt on what could be Krypton (Superman’s home planet).

Superman is then shown walking into what could possibly be The Fortress of Solitude that holds his secrets. He then goes into flight and is shown fighting multiple battles in different locations around the city. Superman is shown walking in handcuffs with policemen, then he begins to narrate, “My father believed that if the world found out who I really was…it’d reject me, like fear. He was convinced that the world wasn’t ready, what do you think?” The title Man of Steel flashes towards the audience and is followed by the Superman logo which spins slowly onto the screen.

What do you think of the new Superman film? More excited now that you’ve seen more footage than we saw from the Man of Steel teaser?

Man of Steel‘s release date is June 14, 2013.

Much better then the official trailer. This one actually shows Superman.

I’m not a big Superman fan and I never will be, but this movie actually looks really good.

  • Simon Povey

Now that’s what i’m talking about! Amazing!

The teaser left me really unsure. I liked the tone, but it gave so little from the film itself. This extended trailer is exactly what I wanted. It gave just enough for me to be hopeful that this will be a finely-developed and well-shot film. Where Snyder will ultimately take it remains to be seen, but I think it has the potential to be a just and entertaining revival of the Superman franchise.

I really do hope Nolan continues to oversee these DC projects as a producer. If so, he could rule over quite an impressive cadre of hero cinema… But I doubt he would actually agree to that role without the majority of his time still being free for his own projects.

“The teaser left me really unsure. I liked the tone, but it gave so little from the film itself.” – I don’t think you understand the purpose of a teaser trailer.

A teaser is supposed to entice a person to want to see a movie. The pre-DKR teaser didn’t show enough footage to entice much of anything except a movie version of Deadliest Catch with some very abstract, Malick-like shots of scenery.  No offense to Nolan or Snyder, but after the let down that was Superman-Returns, they needed to come back stronger for mass audiences like they did for the SDCC people to ensure some hype.  TDKR footage doesn’t show anything “Superman” except one quick and very very distant shot of Supes flying.

This is a teaser trailer. They don’t want to give too much away too soon because the movie is still a year from release.

It’s not fair that the adience at com-con got to see more of the movie. Not everyone could be there and we are going to buy a ticket too.

      • Joshua Redwine

I understand the purpose of a teaser trailer. But I didn’t feel teased by the original, I felt taunted. It felt like a very basic concept trailer, not even giving us a good, close-up look at Superman or any hint at plot or other characters.

This one would’ve created a lot more hype in theaters, I think. But Nolan has his secretive ways. I hope his methods work in marketing this film, because another Superman flop would be a shame.

Wow I loved that they used a terrific piece from Hans Zimmer’s score for The Thin Red Line, which not only fit the tone of the footage, and set up a possible direction Zimmer may actually take the score, but also helped bring out the Terrance Malick allusions even more. Brilliant.

This movie looks to be incredible.

    • akacj7

i thought that music sounded familiar (though i thought it was from Inception – dude has a distinct style no doubt!). Hans Zimmer is a baller.

    • Star

Zimmer kills me. Just go on with your bad self, Hans.

  • The Maltese Fan

Now that’s way better than the teaser we had earlier!!!

  • Guest02

this looks really good. Snyder’s shots look beautiful when he’s not entrenched in adapting some convoluted comic book straight from page to page.

  • The507thDoctor

Even though I was watching this without sounds, and the quality of the footage isn’t great, THAT LOOKED EPIC!!!!

  • Superfreak

the world needs a hero these days…Superman is just what the people need.

    • Thelastman27

What a cliche thing to say you faggot.  Movie looks great, but come on, I hear that line in superhero movies all the time.  The world does need a hero, someone who will kick the shit out of pretentios douche bags like you.

      • Leila

         Lol you misspelled “pretentious”.

      • WindWolf

I’ll take and optimist over a cynic any day.

  • Liderc

Wow, I liked the teaser, but this looks great. Henry Cavill is winning me over already as Superman.

  • Paulinekhan

All I see is a commercial then it cuts off

  • Vicshotgun

    how can i download this?

  • Kaiboy

This looks great!  I’m still shaking my head over how Warner/DC screwed up Green Lantern.  The flying Superman looks awesome….

How the hell is this just showing up now?

this is going to be soooo goooooooood! (how perfect is henry cavill *swoons*!?) also, anyonle else see the second teaser? there’s actually two, one with a johnathan kent voiceover, the other a jor el voiceover. they have the exact same images/scenes though.  i think buzzfeed has them both.

  • Avengerbender

SO much better than the teaser!

  • Setsuna Piitown

Here’s a very low quality legal version of the trailer. It’s better than nothing :)

  • 7Starrchasers

Saw and extremely low quality version of this just now…and boy was I excited!

  • Speedracer92001

    I loved it!!!!

  • Goku Sayan

    Thanks Greg :D

  • Kurosakiuzu

Thanks for the YouTube link Greg

  • Paulinekhan

AMAZING saw it in low quality but still chills the entire time

  • Elphaba Thropp

Hmm…I don’t think you can ever beat Christopher Reeve.

    • Carlo_rlnd

I don’t think anyone is trying to beat anyone here. Just another actor giving his take of the character.

  • sarazarah

Anyone else notice the song was Howard Shore from LoTR?

    • Liderc

That was the official trailer song, the footage (that got taken down) had a hans zimmer song from one of his other movies.

      • Eddie

Not sure if it was (Zimmer’s often sound the same) but it was a bit like the end of Inception.

  • Biggs

can someone link me to a still working version of the comic con trailer?
