Pottermore launches first few chapters of ‘Chamber of Secrets’ for Slytherin students!

As anticipated, Pottermore today launched the first few chapters of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – but only for ONE of the houses.

Only Slytherin students have access to four Chamber of Secrets chapters for the next 24 hours. We do not have a firm date or timeframe for the release of the next batch of chapters. “Chapters five to eleven will be available shortly,” the site reads.

We’re just combing through the new material now and will provide (spoiler free) details in the coming half hour! Stay tuned.

We’ll be sure to let you know exactly when Chamber of Secrets opens up to the other houses tomorrow.

  Chamber of Secrets was created by a Slytherin after all. In that case, I suppose Slytherin will also win the House Cup at the end of the 5th book cos HBP is about Snape. Then again, I’m a Slytherin so I’m not complaining one bit ;) Oh and btw, if you go the Great Hall, you will find that Slytherin has been awarded a tiny trophy (the miniature version of the House Cup!!)

It is QUITE a step up from PS/SS. The artwork is just stunning, and the introduction of more interactivity is great. I just wish they would allow us to actually go shopping in Diagon Alley . . . We get the shopping list, and it even pops up when you go into Diagon Alley the first time after, but the new things we need to buy do not appear in the shops yet . . . I’m guessing they will when the next few chapters go live. AMAZING!

CoS is quite an improvement from PS/SS. The graphics are beautiful, and much more detailed as well. Much more interactive – the introduction of games is a great move. De-gnoming is easy once you get the hang of it!!

Lucky I had a Slytherin account lying around as well (yes, I feel bad for having muti accounts, but I couldn’t resist sorting several times just for fun!!) I love all the new stuff, and I think they’ve definitely stepped up from PS/SS, but I still can’t help wishing there was more!! Perhaps it’s the Slytherin in me that is being so selfish, but it feels like Pottermore gives us a taste of new info, just enough to make us enormously hungry, then takes away the full dinner. I guess I’m also mentally comparing it to a book-version encyclopedia, which would be almost (not quite) as good as a new book with all the wonderful new things we’d learn!!! In some ways, Pottermore is better than an encyclopedia would be…the artwork is so lovely and I absolutely LOVE seeing all the key scenes from the books (COS is even better than PS/SS)!!! But I still want more information :).

Can I just saying being a Slytherin is awesome? I liked that we got early access as a prize for winning the House Cup. And the first four chapters are fun. I enjoyed the interactive aspects of it; it made everything seem a little more real. And the technology information? It was pretty cool. But I loved the info on the Malfoy family. I’m a big fan of them for some reason and it was really cool to learn more about them from before Lucius and Draco.

      You have to click on the COS symbol which is sort of like two snakes. Then you press chapter 1 and it should work.

      Yeah, the gnomes were frustrating! I was using my wacom tablet at first and it was definitely not working well. Had to switch to a mouse. It was still trickier than I imagined. I was going to try to look up the breakfast info but then hitting the clue to flash the answer repeatedly so I could remember it was much quicker. I wonder if anyone figured it out the intended way.

Yay they are actually adding games! This is what they should do for the rest of the books because other than dueling/potions, there was no activities do. If they have like 10 or more games/activities, then it will feel like a complete, entertaining site.

  The games are wonderful it seems as if Pottermore is slowly reaching her full potential. I also like how they are releasing four to six chapters a week it makes the journey more rewarding. also I had trouble with the shopping on Diagon Ally as the second year books are not up yet.

    Actually, I think that Asians are *more* likely to be in Slytherin than the other Houses. Despite the general consensus that we’re all nerds and book worms, what usually isn’t very well known is that Asians are also extremely ambitious and competitive. We really would go to whatever lengths to reach our goals. Just look at all the tutoring, extra (I’m a Chinese Slytherin, and proud of it.)

Pretty clever to only release the first few chapters. It’s a way to keep us coming back, instead of releasing all of the chapters and finishing it within four hours.

The new info about technology was very interesting and showed her skills as a writer. She wrote it as if it was an article about things she created with a source to a book she had come up with (The Philosophy of Mundane…). But I still fully believe it to be “true”
