The controversial American take on Sherlock Holmes has been acquired by the UK’s Sky network.

The show will premiere on Sky Living in Autumn but as of yet, no debut date has been set.

The revered Sherlock and Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat has been quoted as saying that he was “annoyed” by CBS’s show, saying that it could “degrade” the Sherlock brand if it was not handled properly.

Following on the coat tails of the BBC’s successful Sherlock, doubtless comparisons have and will be made between the two shows. Despite the backlash Elementary has received, will you be watching the show when it airs?

No. I don’t want to watch too many versions of Sherlock and I do not like the transformation of Watson to a woman. Some classical traits should remain classic. As I watch and love the BBC version, I have no further interest.

However, I wish the actors and the production team best of luck and believe their are still many out there interested in the new version (…even if I do not like it ;) ).

No, they didn’t say “annoyed” or that it could “degrade” it.  Moffat didn’t say anything. His wife did.

“We understand that CBS are doing their own version of an updated Sherlock Holmes. It’s interesting, as they approached us a while back about remaking our show. At the time, they made great assurances about their integrity, so we have to assume that their modernised Sherlock Holmes doesn’t resemble ours in any way, as that would be extremely worrying.” She added: “We are very proud of our show and like any proud parent, will protect the interest and wellbeing of our offspring.”

I love the BBC version and will not be watching the American version of Sherlock.  I don’t know why Americans have to take all the good British shows and ruin them.  I’m surprised there isn’t an American version of Downton Abby!

If there were, it would probably be set in the playboy mansion or something…smh
