Warner Bros. has tapped Harry Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves to write and direct Defending Jacob.

As Variety reports, the film, which is based on the novel by William Landay, is a legal thriller.

Set in a wealthy Boston suburb, novel follows a district attorney who must leave his day job to defend his son from a murder charge while uncertain of his son’s innocence.

In addition to writing all the Harry Potter films outside of The Order of the Phoenix, Kloves penned this Summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man, and has previously helmed The Fabulous Baker Boys and Flesh and Bone. Are you interested in seeing this one? What do you think of Kloves writing AND directing?

When is he going to stop signing on to write and direct films and actually write and direct one?

You guys are awesome but…just because they are connected to Potter doesn’t mean that the story has to be under Potter.
This has nothing to do with HP other then Kloves.

Many people only know Kloves existed from Harry Potter. They’re doing both Kloves and Harry Potter fans a service. Just like other Potter sites post about new projects with Emma Watson, David Yates, and Michael Gambon etc, Kloves not being front and center does not mean he shouldn’t get filed uner Potter. :) Yes, he does exist outside of Potter, but he is a significant part of it nevertheless.
