Now that the smoke has cleared and most everyone has seen The Avengers, the time has come to ask ourselves the big question: Whaddya think? Come and see what your fellow fans had to say about The Avengers and chip in with your two cents!

We asked and you answered! We told you what we think, now here’s what YOU thought about The Avengers!

We also asked our Facebook followers to sound off on the Hypable Facebook page. Here’s what you thought!

Looks like response has been overwhelmingly positive! What did you think about the film?

  • Jason

Very overrated in my opinion (comparisons to The Dark Knight and declarations as “The greatest superhero film ever!” aren’t warranted), but I liked it. I liked the old fashioned storytelling and the effects were superb. There were too many one-liners for my taste though. Seemed a bit forced.

    • Liderc

The Dark Knight wasn’t even that good, it was just Heath Ledger as the Joker pulling it up to a higher level.

But I do agree that the Avengers is a bit overrated, it’s definitely not ZOMG amazing, but it was definitely good.  Was a tough movie to make with all of those big actors and characters in one room.

If I could give them a critique it would be that they added too much humor. It doesn’t give you a chance to feel any emotion for the character’s well being because they’re almost like a comedy act.

      • LezahCallahan

I agree that it wasn’t the BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME, but a very good movie. And Dark Knight was Okay (in comparison).

I disagree that the humor didn’t give you a chance to feel any emotion, but in fact I think that it actually gave more emotion and feelings into these deep characters. I do not think that they were a comedy act, it was just some of their personalities (i.e. Stark, Hulk, and Thor/Captain America’s complete ignorance comes to mind)

      • mơnshoespotter1712

The Dark Knight was amazing, imo. The acting was fantastic all round, and editing and visual effects were superb. Suspense, emotion all worked together fantastically.

      • rdh014

I mean…to compare them is kinda pointless. They focus on two completely different aspects of superheroes. Artistically, TDK has some serious advantages…especially when it comes to the performances by Ledger and Bale. TDK was an interpretation of The Batman mythos, not solely rooted in the actual comic story. But in terms of story-telling, characterization, and pure comic faithfulness, I think Avengers won out. They both were all around seriously amazing. TDK made me think, and The Avengers got me excited and pumped.

They are such different films, I don’t see the need to compare them.

        • Liderc

I didn’t compare them, just responded to someone who did.

          • rdh014

Ohh no I wasn’t like bashing you or disagreeing or anything, I was just continuing the conversation!

    • CliveRogan

It depends on how you like your superheroes.  I’d much rather see them engaging in witty banter and swinging gods around than being dark and brooding so I vastly prefered The Avengers to The Dark Knight.

One being good doesn’t make the other bad though, so complaining about the comparisons isn’t warranted.

Any sort of positive praise I could fathom is automatically an understatement. It felt like a comic book. Perfection. Whedon hit a grand slam.

  • RSCAR

I thought is was very good. The Dark Knight is still my favorite comic book movie. But I wish it took itself more seriously. Other than that, it was awesome and the most fun I have ever had watching a movie.

  • Holly

    Amazeballs.

  • Daughter of Eve

I loved how much it had the comic tone of the comics and the animated movies.

  • rdh014

LOVED IT. Honestly as a major comic/superhero geek, I thought it was one of the most well made superhero films to date.

  • GeekGirl101

So worth the four year wait, it’s super awesome. I loved it.

  • Chellearia

Whedon proves himself a genius once again. I was amazing. Well-balanced plot with plenty of action. Great interaction and relationship development between all characters.
I have to agree with Becca Cain above on pretty much all of her comments. LOL Hulk and Loki!
Personally loved the development of Black Widow’s character since I don’t expect to see a backstory film on her. Meanwhile they left Hawkeye’s story open for a prequel and this really piqued my interest in his character.
Agree that this movie is best if you’ve seen the others, and I love how it addressed questions that may have come up (i.e. Thor’s love interest).
    Overall, epic.

  • Lezak

What a great and fun movie!  It had heart and hearty action and hearty comedy!
Whedon sure does know how to make a memorable scene.

  • Brubin1229

    We have a Hulk.

  • Shantelle

I loved it!! I saw it in DBox and it was epic!! I loved the little seeing the characters through mirrors and Hawkeye is my new favorite non super super hero.
As for DBox, it is well worth the extra ten dollars to see it with these awesome seats, my favorite part DBox wise was when Iron Man was flying and it felt like you were flying with him. I am saving up to see it one more time before Battleship comes out and it is in those awesome chairs.
    I highly recomend it.

I feel like The Avengers was a smash-hit. The writing was flawless; the characters were incredibly well written and each of them had their own specific and clear voice. Joss Whedon did a fantastic job of incorporating so many characters and giving them all their own time and importance. The comedy, both spoken and physical comedy, were hilarious and well done. The acting was phenomenal. There aren’t enough words of praise for such a brilliant movie. I was so pulled in that I didn’t even feel like I was watching a film.

I understand why they didn’t have ant man in the movie (he would have been a little cheesy for nonfans) but I still would have liked to see Hank pym in it maybe explaining something sciencey to the avengers or maybe just a name drop by tony.

  • lotrgeek

I thought The Avengers was awesome.  The combination of action and humor was great, and I thought Joss Whedon did a great job handling so many characters and giving them each a good amount of screentime.

  • Rajah

An incredibly enjoyable film. Great writing, great action scenes, and to borrow a phrase from HeroHype, whenever the Hulk was on screen I was in nerdvana. I did feel that at a couple of points the humor detracted a bit from the seriousness of the situation. But that’s really my only complaint. As I said in my reaction post: Hulk, Smash.

  • grapes9h5

Couldnt be more pleased with a movie 5 years in the hype making and thats really saying something.

  • TheOneAndOnlyCliche

If I start into it now, I’ll have a novel written, which means I’ll be late for my bus, and course, respecitvely, but I just want to say that everything was perfect. It was long without feeling over-long, which is important, and marks a true filmmaker when they can take that length and fill it with so much that you never feel it’s dragging. Well acted, specifically by Ruffalo, who is always super charming and loveable. GREAT dislouge. Hilarious comedy, bothy physical and verbal. Great action sequences. Wonderful moments where it focuses more on the serious side of things. And I love how the humor is often used to defuse emotional bombs. (You know what I’m talking about, hero-rudely-awoken-from-deep-sleep-by-loud-roar. You know.)
PHEW. I think I got it all without too much of my ‘explanations as to why I found this particular thing neat’ habit butting in.
Honestly, me favorite superhero movie possibly ever.

it was such a funny comedy…. It made me laugh more then “Comedy Films” hahaha. Loved it.

  • http://twitter.com/ClaudioCatino CCMASTER_01

It was….ok. Not Hunger Games good but a great superhero film by itself.

    absolutely amazing!!

  • Avenger

IT WAS THE BEST FILM OF ALL TIME PERIOD! XDXD NOT JUST SUPERHERO FILM  BUT BEST OVERALL XD

  • PG

The best Marvel movie to date. But it is no Dark Knight but is was awsome…

  • http://www.facebook.com/JesseB.72 Jesse Barrow

Definitely the best superhero film to date and in my opinion the best film I’ve ever seen… I have to be honest I had my doubts with how epic Captain America was and Disney taking over I wasn’t sure if it would keep up the level of epicness, but it was perfectly balanced and at no point was I ever thinking “Man this is taking to long to get where it needs to go”. I will leave you with my favorite line from the movie “Big man in a suit of armor take that away and what are you?” Steve Rogers “Billionaire, Genius, Playboy, Philanthropist…” Tony Stark :D

  • sammylovegood
