Just one week ago we told you that Pottermore had hit one million sorted users.

Since then, that number has literally doubled.

As of April 23 the site surpassed two million sorted members, according to the count in the Great Hall.

This is very quick growth, especially considering there was not much of a promotional campaign when it publicly launched on April 14.

We’re eager to see how much higher it will go!

Gryffindor currently has the most students (520,000 members) with Hufflepuff in second (503,000), Slytherin in third (500,000) and Ravenclaw in fourth (475,000).

i’m pretty sure that people have created multiple accounts under different emails to see if they would be sorted into the same house or not.

    • Mia

I’m sure you’re right, but technically, they are suppose to delete their multiple accounts. But I know a lot of people who are just getting accounts. Or I know others are holding off because finals are coming up and they don’t want to be distracted. So although that figure may be a bit distorted, I bet it’s somewhat accurate.

      • guest

I think the delete your multiple account rule was only for beta.

still, i´m happy with my ravenclaw one so im content with one

        • Mia

          Ravenclaws for the win :)

        • writeworld

Same. I have one account and it’s Ravenclaw. That’s the only one I need.

  • Jelly

I know so many people who have at least four accounts each. One for each house.

    • belac889

       That would be me

  • Alex Anderlik

Maybe I’m just pouting because Ravenclaw (my house) was vying for first, but I think the house points are awfully unfair due to the inevitably large number of Gryffindors and Slytherins… People “cheat” the Sorting Hat to get the house they want (usually one of the two) and so they have a much larger membership and therefore a larger number of house points.  Oh well.

    • Runemarauder63

Alex, I’ve been in beta and I have to correct you on a point, while the influx of new users doesnt help ravenclaw, the new point calculation system they put in at the last major shutdown hurts more ( though initially it helped ravenclaw get a 100k lead in beta before slytherin took it back and at that time, ravenclaw had the most amount of users).
As a side note: more users doesn’t garuntee a point advantage, the way it’s currently set up, new users that are still on a learning curve aren’t helping now, but may later (e.g. The dueling game, which requires a bit of practice and skill to consistently win, new users aren’t able to get the scores that will win consistently, leading to point increases in the houses that take advantage of this-slytherins spamming “use spell x cause you’ll win” in the common room).

    • writeworld

I think you’d be hard-pressed to “cheat” the Sorting Hat.
And you’re a Ravenclaw! If you want more House points, strategize! Duel in-House and make Potions! Don’t just sit there complaining, get out there and put Ravenclaw in first place!

  • HJP<3

Well I can say that personally, I had pottermore when it was in BETA and it was a lot more enjoyable then.  You’d log on and see the same people who were friendly and nice to talk to and there was true gryffindor spirit (I’m in gryffindor!)  Now I go on and in the common room people actually admit to cheating to get into gryffindor!  Not cool guys:P

I’m honestly surprised. And I’ve seen more people on my Facebook joining Pottermore, more than half being complete surprises; no idea they liked Potter that much.

Without a real magical sorting hat, we will never truly know which house we belong to. At least Pottermore gave me the one I wanted:)

    • Plat

JK Rowling created Harry Potter, as well as the quiz, so this is the closest you can ever get.

  • Allie Rose Mellark

I got into Hufflepuff and I was pissed so I made another account and still got Hufflepuff so I guess it’s not random but I wish I was Gryphindor….

    • writeworld

      “You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
      Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
      And unafraid of toil”

Just because some characters in HP think Hufflepuff are a bunch of duffers doesn’t mean they are! Hufflepuffs can be just as smart as Ravenclaws, just as brave as Gryffindors, and just as shrewd as Slytherins. “…[they]’ve produced more than [their] fair share of
powerful, brilliant and daring witches and wizards, but, just because [they]
don’t shout about it, [they] don’t get the credit [they] deserve.” I hope you’ll proud to be in a House full of such genuinely good people!

question- does ANYONE have any idea when Chamber of secrets is coming out?!!

I mean I Know the “released Early 2012″ is probably not going to be it, since they delayed the opening of the website to the public (from what was it? october and it finally opened in april?) but i mean, what Else are they waiting for Now to bring change of secrets? the audiobooks/e-books are already out for purchase. the website now has TWO MILLION users….

so what are they waiting for? the release of rowling new book? harry’s birthday? a one year anniversary of pottermore?

  • samantha

The cheating kind of annoys me. Grow up and accept your house, you ruin the fun of the site by making several accounts. Of course, maybe I’d feel differently if I weren’t in Ravenclaw, which is where I expected to end up, and am happy I did.

  • Pixie

The sorting hat made me a hatstall – Slytherin/Hufflepuff – don’t ask me how I landed up with that combo!! I selected Hufflepuff. And now that I’m a Hufflepuff, I’m very satisfied.

I don’t care what others think of me being a Hufflepuff, but the fact that the sorting hat actually thought that I have a Slythein side to me is very satisfying indeed! At least, no one can take me for granted simply ‘cos I belong to goody-goody Hufflepuff. I can unleash my inner Slytherin (btw, my Hufflepuff goodness completely masks it), and put everybody in their proper place (my inner Slytherin is vindictive!), in case anybody intimidates me, or insults Hufflepuff house.

Beware – you have been warned!

    • Marly

I myself am a slytherpuff, we aren’t weird! XD

  • Pixie

Is the multiple accounts condition applicable only to beta or to the new users as well? Not that I’m thinking of creating multiple accounts…but just wanted to know out of curiosity.

    • Lauren

omg yes…IF IT WASNT I COULD CHECK I WAS IN THE RIGHT HOUSE!
