Fans may not be the only ones sad to see Hunger Games director Gary Ross go. The actors who played Cato, Foxface and Thresh are just as disappointed.
E!Online checked in with Alexander Ludwig (Cato) at a Nylon Magazine anniversary party.
“One thing about Gary is, he can do everyone’s job better than you can,” Ludwig told E!. “It’s an honor working with such a talented director. He is an unbelievable guy and an actor’s director, which is amazing…. Nobody could really do what Gary did. I honestly believe that 100 percent.”
Jacqueline Emerson (Foxface) was also sorry to see Ross go.
“That makes me so sad,” she said. “I’m sorry, I can’t move on yet. I’m still in mourning. I don’t know that anyone else could bring it to life the way that he did.”
Before the news broke of Gary Ross’ departure Tuesday night, Josh Hutcherson had said Ross was “the only one that could ever direct” Catching Fire, during a Detention press junket.
However, Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) had some suggestions for possible Catching Fire directors.
“I’d like to see a David Fincher Catching Fire or Darren Aronofsky,” he said. “I think he’d be amazing for the second movie. Be a little bit edgier, darker.”
David Fincher has directed Fight Club, The Social Network and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Darren Aronofsky is known for directing The Black Swan and The Wrestler.
What do you think of Okeniyi’s suggestions?
