Both co-stars Eve Myles and John Barrowman have expressed wanting to do another Torchwood series. Now the Starz Network is echoing their desire.

Russell T. Davies, John Barrowman, and Julie Gardner explicitly stated at Comic-Con in 2011 and on other occasions that if it were not for the backing and finance of the Starz Network, there would not have been another Torchwood series. The BBC did not have the cash and incentive to go it alone.

The CEO of the Starz Network, Chris Albrecht, in promoting the company’s series Magic City, was asked about their commitment to Torchwood by Multichannel News.

MCN: Is there anything more out of the Torchwood camp? I know you’re close with the people there…

CA: You know, Russell [Davies] is so busy. Obviously, we’re in touch with the BBC all the time. They are our partners on DaVinci’s Demons and the Harem project that you just mentioned. We told them, we stand by ready for any news, but I think it would be a while before Russell came back to Torchwood.

As Albrecht states, Davies is currently wrapped up in producing a new children’s TV series for the BBC, and Barrowman has just signed on to do a new American TV series called Gilded Lillys. It is unlikely that a new series could even begin to be shot before summer 2013.

Do you want a Torchwood return, or should it be put to rest?

As awesome as Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper were, the characters Miracle Day brought just weren’t as good as the original Torchwood crew. It should be laid to rest. Perhaps have a crossover thread for Jack and Gwen to show up on Who again.

I think Miracle Day was brilliant! You can tell that they had a bigger budget, and it showed during the show. It reminded me of the first two series of Torchwood. I liked Children of the Earth, but I felt it dragged a lot. I say they should bring it back!

We need at least one more season. You can’t just leave it like that!

they seriously just need to end it. it’s getting embarrassing. they MURDERED the show when they hacked off all the original cast members. *sigh*

The last season disappointed me. The reason I want another is so that somehow it can go off on a high note. Though how they would do it I have no idea.

Yes I didn’t like the last season either. I just want Ianto and Toshiko back….. If not, can they go back to England now and to the old base.

Miracle Day just was a mess by the end of it. I want a new series just so the taste of Miracle Day can be wiped away.

If not my big hope is that Captain Jack (and hopefully Gwen as well) are apart of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary and that Captain Jack plays a big part and gets to kick butt with the Eleventh Doctor

I say give them three more seasons. The first to reestablish Torchwood/introduce new characters to the team, the second to just give us a normal season for once, and the third to wrap it up before they inevitably disappoint us again.
