‘Top Gun 2′ likely to be written by ‘The Town’ screenwriter

There’s been word the past few months that Paramount and Jerry Bruckheimer want to create Top Gun 2.  Today, it was announced they’ve hired their screenwriter!

Peter Craig, the screenwriter for The Town, has been hired to create a sequel to the original masterpiece  No one from the original film are tied to Top Gun 2yet, but there’s some word Tom Cruise and the original Top Gun director Tony Scott may somehow be involved.

X Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zach Stentz were originally supposed to write the script of Top Gun 2, but they have left the project without writing a word.
