It seems like the old JKRowling.com, which we all came to know and love for its whimsical features and various announcements over the years, may be no more.

At least for now. The site has been replaced with a sign-up form to hear announcements concerning J.K. Rowling’s new book!

The site has the same details as the initial announcement. By including your e-mail address in the sign-up form you will be notified when other announcements are made.

Also noted is that the site is being “refreshed and redesigned” for a Spring re-release. So hopefully that means we’ll get more details about the book in the next few months.

Do you think the old website will return? Or will it be completely revamped?

EDIT: You can still access the old website right here. Enjoy it while you can! Thanks, EvaLovegood.

I’m guessing revamped into something to do with the new book.  Maybe giving clues and such as her old site did.

  • John Rutherford

I hope that it isn’t any different. Well, I mean to say that I hope it still retains all the features that it had when it was new back in the mid-2000′s. It sucks that we aren’t getting any info on what it is that they’ll be doing, but I’m hoping for an early spring relaunch rather than one in say, June.

The website still works. You’re still able to see the old website if you go to http://jkrowling.com/en

Interesting point!  I’ll edit the post.

      • Code1125

Andrew, it doesn’t work anymore. I guess it was just a glitch:P

    • gleeky-potterhead

      Uh…am I missing something?
      It doesn’t work for me…

    • Jane_kelsey

it still won’t let me see it…

    • LilyLuna

That doesn’t work for me anymore.

Way back machine might? But their archives aren’t usually, fully functional, but they do have captures of JKR’s site:

         hey
i don’t get that site back.even trying your link.

  • Jane_kelsey

I think it will feature both books. They aren’t about to get rid of the fabulous harry potter site. I think they are just going to add to it.

  • Gary65

I don’t think anyone should be surprised that JKR wants to start clean with her new book. Anyone who’s had such massive success wants a fresh slate with their new work. They know they’re never going to be able to top that high and they want to do their best to ensure people don’t make comparisons. I’d expect other such HP hallmarks that JKR has control over to go too.

Pottermore is like her final HP send-off. She’s done with HP for now and anything HP related is going to coming from there from now on, not from her. Why do you think Sony have so much creative control over it. They have to pass everything by Jo but, for the most part, they’re left to do as they please. When was the last time she ever even spoke about Pottermore, apart from her intro vid?

So does this mean that Pottermore will take even longer to open to the public? Don’t get me wrong, I am THRILLED for a new book by JKR, but I would also like for Pottermore to be finished . . . This might explain why it has taken so long as well, she has been focused on something new and exciting, but still, for all the hype it got Pottermore has been somewhat of a let down . . .

Apparently my email is banned. :-(

Allthough I fear all my Potter content I scrambled together over the years, is now gone, I think this is a good thing. It means Jo is going to profile her outside of Potter, as an author, which  hopefully means she has plans to write several other books.

And, thank god, you don’t have to sign up for BETA to get in the site or something.. :-)

I can’t view the old website at http://www.jkrowling.com/en

  • 5Celcious

I hope they just move the old site to a different link so we can still experience the awesome site it was.

  • GoodFinder

PLEASE don’t make us wait too long, Jo!  I want this book by the summer!!

  • nodaybut2day7

The end of an era :( I am gonna miss JKR’s old website!

  • Phoebe Glick

I was so glad I was just playing around on there a few days ago for old times’ sake. As soon as the announcement for the new book was made I worried the cluttered desk with easter eggs everywhere would disappear, and within 20 minutes the tweet went out that it had changed. I’ll be forever happy that I experienced that website in its’ era, but I really hope that it comes back up as a part of her new site. I’d be very sad to see it go forever. (And the new link doesn’t go to the old site anymore.)

My heart is broken, that site reminded me of my son’s childhood. I mean, it’s her site, she can do what she wants, but how sad that it’s gone.
