‘Twilight: The Musical’ to read in New York City with Broadway star-filled cast

It was announced today that Twilight: The Musical (not officially associated by Stephenie Meyer, Summit Entertainment, etc) will be read in New York City.

Interestingly, the cast is made up of quite a few theater stars – including actors from Wicked, The Book of Mormon, and yes: A Very Potter Musical.

StarKid’s Lauren Lopez will play Alice. Playbill breaks down the main cast:

The cast will feature Meghann Fahy (Next to Normal) as Bella Swan, Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked) as Rosalie, Hermione (et al.), Lauren Lopez (A Very Potter Musical) as Alice (et al.), Jason Michael Snow (The Book of Mormon) as Harry Potter (et al.), Olli Haaskivi (Jurassic Parq: The Musical) as Jasper (et al.), Eddie Gutierrez (Miss Abigail’s Guide…), Lindsay Dunn (West Side Story), Michael McArthur (Newsies), Kaitlin Mesh (West Side Story) and Cliff Samuels (Follies).

Created by Ashley Griffin, Twilight: The Musical features music and lyrics by Jeremy Ezell, Griffin, Sean Mahoney, David Mallamud and Michael Sutherland.

The musical, according to press notes, “examines our culture of obsession through the story of teenage outsider Bella Swan who risks everything when she embarks on a star-crossed romance with Vampire Edward Cullen.”

Then again, I just saw some clips of the youtube video, and I’m not too impressed. (Not to be too harsh)

Yeah, that’s cuz Andrew got his links mixed up. The youtube videos were people making fun of the books, not affiliated with the books or the NYC musical at all.

They have the video on youtube of this play. They have Harry, Ron and Hermione in the play, but they’re villains who are jealous because Twilight is becoming popular. They kidnap the narrator (Stephenie Myer) and I believe Hermione starts to narrate.

The one you linked is twilightthemusical.com and is for a youtube parody from several years ago.

And being a lulzy homemade youtube series, it’s not supposed to be AMAZING xD Especially considering they’re MAKING FUN OF the series lol

Okay, now that I know the right link.. I’m excited but confused. If this article is correct, I’m super excited for Lauren Lopez being in on it, and for the characters of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger somehow being involved, though the site does not say that any of this is true, so I guess future will tell. I just hope it ends up on youtube! :-D

EDIT: It’s on broadway.com (the internet) so it must be true!

On the website it said that it is a one night only read for charity. So basically it seems that they got a couple of big name theater actors to read the characters of this parody musical for a charity event. Hypable made it seem like it was a big Broadway thing, which was a little deceiving (at least for people who don’t know much about Broadway, like me).

The event is not deceiving at all! The show is laden with a great writer, a great stage manager, and great producers, along with stars that have performed on Broadway. It is a parody that will most likely have life beyond the performance for charity. It’s as honest as it gets! Wise up!

Now coming from a very HUGE musical theater fan i will not be seeing this musical not only because i don’t like the twilight saga and not sure how they will do this (3 musicals or 1 whole musical based on all three books?) but also because i live in England and if i was going to the states for a Muscial Theater week in Broadway i would have seen Spider-man turn of the dark(because i love spider-man and U2 music) and other musical theater productions which appeals to me which this musical doesn’t really…..
Just because I don’t like the idea and won’t watch it I am not stopping any other people watching it if they really want to it’s just my opinion….

so I checked the broadway website: http://www.broadway.com/buzz/159174/meghann-fahy-and-jenna-leigh-green-to-star-in-concert-reading-of-twilight-the-musical/
and everything they said matches the info on the old youtube musical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rO9ZK_Vu64s (same creator, music writers, etc.) It’s just the actors’ names that are different. So I’m assuming it’s the same musical, except now with professional actors and performed on broadway.
