The box-office tally for the Christmas weekend is in and the numbers aren’t too impressive, as Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol lead the pack in a crowded holiday field.
Below you can find the top five for the weekend. It should be noted that both The Darkest Hour and War Horse open nationwide today.
1. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – $26.5 million – Week Two | 93%
2. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows – $17.8 million (-55.1%) – Week Two | 59%
3. Alvin and the Chipmunks – Chipwrecked! – $13.3 million – Week Two | 13%
4. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo – $13 million | $21.4 million total – Newcomer | 85%
5. The Adventures of Tintin – $9.1 million | $17.1 million total – Newcomer | 74%
Nothing really eye-popping or special from this Holiday box-office, as most films here underperformed. It is particularly interesting to see the lack of ticket sales for The Adventures of Tintin, which has performed remarkably well overseas. Did you see any of these films this weekend? Perhaps catch Matt Damon in We Bought a Zoo?
