Similar to the photo of The Hunger Games trio found on the cover of The Official Illustrated Guide, check out this new look at Katniss, Peeta, and Gale!

The source of the image is unknown, but thanks to Mockingjay.net! Don’t forget that the film hits theaters this March.

UPDATE: Thanks to The Hob for pointing out that the poster is part of the READ Campaign.

I love how they’re all wearing the same brown pants.

  • http://www.rebellionradiopodcast.com Hurley

Haha Katniss looks like she’s about to mug me

  • http://twitter.com/ConnectxDots Emily

Promo pics are always so awkward looking.

  • jmc

    they look supppperrr pale.

  • Jason

I always imagined that Peeta would be really big and taller than Katniss. Somehow the short Josh doesn’t due it for me.

    • bleep bloop blarg

It’s “do”, and you haven’t even seen the movie yet. No one has. How could you possibly know if Josh can pull off Peeta, besides the five-second line in the trailer. He could totally suck, but he could be great. We don’t know yet.

      • Katie

Whoa, chill out. Dude was just expressing his opinion…as of right now, Josh isn’t doing it for him. I’m sure he’s still gonna see the movie and form an opinion afterward, but it’s okay to have opinion beforehand too. For example, I think Liam is completely wrong for this part.

  • Lottie

Quite frankly for the first movie Gale/Liam should not actually be on any covers/posters. His role is just too small. Even as a Twilight fan (there, I said it), I am worried they will focus to much on a ‘triangle’ and romance. I really hope the main focus will be on the gritty survival story of a girl being part of malicious games USING romance in order for her and Peeta to win.

    • Anonymous

They’re not gonna focus on the god damn love triangle. Why is everyone so concerned about this?

      • BarkingSpiders

I think a lot of fans are concerned because we don’t want so many “OMG Gale/Peeta is soooo HAWT!!!1!” comments to be associated with the movie. The plot isn’t supposed to be hugely romantic, and although I believe Collins will try her hardest to keep it from becoming so, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a level of uncertainty about it.

      • http://www.thatwasdramatic.tumblr.com/ Anya

Because I’m pretty confident the media will focus on the love triangle – and a lot of people (non-fans, new fans of the movies only, etc) might follow. It sells a lot more than ‘vicious arena where teenagers kill each other’. Josh and Liam are attractive, of course they’re going to build up on the ‘Team vs Team’ thing. It’s ridiculous, and unfortunately I doubt anyone will be able to stop it… I’m trusting the actors (especially Jennifer Lawrence, since she’s a fan herself) to stand up to it and insist on talking about the real themes of TGH.

I hate to say it, but they’ve mentioned before that they are planning to ‘hype up’ the triangle more than is done in the books.  Granted, it’s not going to completely focus on it, but it will be more present than in the books I think.  I also believe that there is a legit fear from fans of how many people are relating this to Twilight.  I’m still putting my faith in that Collins will be able to keep them from going overboard with it, being that she is involved with the script, so I’d like to think they are going to do a good job with it.

      • http://www.facebook.com/heather.smith07 Heather Smith

It’s already being promoted in magazines that way. The other day I was flipping through Seventeen or something, and it had a page of Hunger Games and at the bottom there was a picture of peeta and gale and it said- “there’s a love triangle, just like twilight!” It said exactly that.

        So naturally people are worried.

    • Eoin

Gale might have a bigger role in the movie then he did in the book because in the movie we are going to be able to see outside of the games so we might get a few scenes of Gale helping Prim and her Mom.

    • Rachel

i was rereading cathing fire last week and i realized the BOOK actually focuses on the love triangle majorly so lets not get so angry…

      • Anonymous

Yes because Collins was forced to by her stupid editor. Collins has control over the film script and she never wanted the triangle to be so prominent. So I’m sure she’s gonna tone it down.

        • Emily

When did movie makers start listening to what the authors want? For them, sex sells.

          • Matt

thats funny because thats exactly the way the capitol thinks

    • Prim

i think he should because the books are in katniss’ perspective, and gale and peeta are a couple the most important people in her life. its not necessarily suggesting a love triangle (even though it is, especially to gale).

Peeta looks like he’s flexing his muscles. :)

When you said promo, I thought you meant footage, not a picture. Goddamnit I wanna see what they’ve done with the actual Games NOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! >:c(

  • mary

    peeta’s are looks stumpy

  • Cam

I’m feeling that this movie is going to be very PLAIN.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know, the odds might just not be in favor of this poster.

  • guest

katniss and gales faces look so intense. i dont really know how to describe peetas. lost puppy maybe

  • Luna97831

why does it say ‘read’ if it’s for a movie?

  • Anonymous

Well, it’s for the READ campaign so there’s no need to make a big deal about this…except I wish they were holding a book.

  • Sdfghk

they look kinda too fancy and commercial here … :/

  • DreamNox58

First of all, I want Katniss jacket, second of all, I want that for a poster.  I want to stare at Peeta all day.

  • Hunger4Ever

  • PotionWillow207

Wow, they Photoshopped these images to death. They look like wax statues right out of Madame Toussaud’s.

  • Anonymous

Am I the only one who thinks that in this picture Liam Hemsworth looks like some sort of mouse? xD

  • PotterGleek

I do not like this poster at all. They’re all making really odd faces. Gale looks a bit constipated, Katniss looks as though she may vomit…and Peeta just looks like he missed the serious face memo.

  • http://twitter.com/Classic_D Dominique

I think in the movie, they’re probably going to show what’s going on back at District 12 while Katniss is in the arena. (It says in the book that they interviewed people.)  So we’ll probably get to see more of Gale.  And of course, there’s always room for flashbacks.

Regarding the main topic: That “Read” poster looks awesome.  I kinda want one for my room.

  • Anonymous

I like this photo, specially because of Katniss’s stance. She isn’t girly or interacting with the guys at all. She is simply herself – a down to earth girl that has a great will to survive. And the cool thing is, you get to see the 3 main characters (or the ones they seem to be focusing their attention) without the feared love triangle thing.

  • Trel

My only issue with this shot is that none of them are particularly in character if that makes any sense…Its not like any of them are giving off any kind of emotion. I absolutely hate that Gale is in the photo but its obvious in this day in age the thumping beat of teenagers heart thrive on conflicted romance i get that I The Hunger Games is about Katniss and Peeta…Gale is merely secondary so him being almost over dominating the photo doesnt sit well with me…LOL they also all look like Action Figures

  • Mwah

i dont get why everyones hating on this poster…”no emotion”? if you’ve read the book, you know that not a lot of emotions besides fear and depression are portrayed. “boring”? what else could possibly go on in a poster? i think it’s perfect & i feel like the people who were cast as each character exceed my expectations, especially effie, just because her characters so.. out there. love it<3

  • hungergames

OMG i luv the hunger games i wanna soooooooooo badly see the movie i have to wait till march 23 which shuld be celebrated! :)

  • Holly

Although his role is small, Gale is still Katniss’s best friend. I think having cinna or someone with her would be better on the poster though.

    • Amall

Yeah I was thinking they should make a poster with just Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch, kind of like they are the trio of the hunger games.

  • Amall

Yeah, the first pic without the read logo and pin looked pretty stupid. Then I scrolled down and was like yeah that looks cooooooool.

  • Anonymous

I like it though Peeta looks a little… not there in this photo. Like as if it was a picture of Gale and Katniss and then Peeta was just added in.

  • Marie

March 23rd will come so slowly!!

  • Anonymous

I keep wishing that Katniss’s pin was a bit smaller

    • Hatty300

      its not that big!!!

  • Hatty300

gale looks like a mouse, katniss is about to throw up and gale’s arm looks like a stump – not the most flattering picture but it’s not even the actual movie poster so who cares???

    • Hatty300

i meant to say peeta’s arm looks like a stump :)

  • noneofyourbusiness

I am very confident that the movie will not be completely based on the love triangle. This movie should never be compared to “Twilight”. “The Hunger Games” is much more than a stupid “love-triangle” oriented movie. I have full faith in Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins.

  • Shar

The book is awesome.  I would have preferred a more gritty look (they are too perfect, clean).  The fans will have the final say though.  I agree that they should not have did the poster like that, should be more original.
