Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, confirms that Zoe Saldana has been cast in Guardians of the Galaxy and discussed some plot points that were previously unknown about the space-thriller.

Zoe Saldana was reportedly in negotiations to play what would be the female lead in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy a few weeks back, and now it looks like Marvel president, Kevin Feige, has confirmed that she will be involved in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Zoe Saldana will be playing a “green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon,” in Guardians of the Galaxy. The character she would be playing is named Gamora, and she’s reportedly a highly skilled assassin in the comic. Saldana is going to be a very busy actress, with her role in Star Trek Into Darkness coming up later this month, along with her part in the Avatar sequels, this will result in a lot more motion capture for the well-received actress.

Zoe Saldana is joining fellow actor Chris Pratt, who has already been cast as the lead in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord, and WWE star Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer).

Michael Rooker, the massive fan-favorite of The Walking Dead series has also signed on to play Yondu in Marvel’s space-thriller Guardians of the Galaxy. Check out Zoe Saldana talking about her role in Guardians of the Galaxy below:

Marvel’s president, Kevin Feige, also revealed some new information concerning Marvel’s Phase Two which includes Guardians. Speaking with EW he says, “There are things in [Iron Man 3], in the next Thor movie, and particularly in the next Cap movie that will drastically change the landscape between Avengers and Avengers 2.” Feige continues saying, “One of the amazing things in our little Marvel Studios sandbox is that filmmakers are inheriting other filmmakers’ solutions, other filmmakers’ expectations.”
