A brand new poster for Kathryn Bigelow’s hunt for bin Laden feature Zero Dark Thirty has been released, featuring brand new imagery from the film’s multiple plot-lines.

Along with perhaps only Django Unchained and Les Miserables, Zero Dark Thirty remains one of the only Oscar contenders that has not yet been screened. With that in mind, take a look at the poster below, which features some interesting imagery from the film.

After starting off with a rather unimpressive poster and initial teaser trailer, the marketing for Zero Dark Thirty has certainly improved with first the second trailer and now this second poster. Obviously Bigelow and writer Mark Boal have a lot to live up to after The Hurt Locker, although the Oscar buzz has certainly been building over the past few weeks, even without any known screenings for critics or film festival goers.

The film focuses on the black ops mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, which culminated in his death in May of 2011 in a compound in Pakistan. The Hurt Locker team of Bigelow and Boal have been developing the project since as early as 2008, as the pair appears to have received some classified information from the CIA during the period before the Seal Team Six operation resulting in bin Laden’s death.

Zero Dark Thirty stars a ton of big names including Jason Clarke (Public Enemies), Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation), Joel Edgerton (Warrior), James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), Jessica Chastain (The Help), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes), Edgar Ramirez (Carlos), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), stuntman Nash Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle (Contagion), Harold Perrineau Jr. (Lost), Ricky Sekhon and Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed). The film is scheduled for a December 19, 2012 release in Los Angeles and New York, before opening in wide release in January.
