Zendaya is officially heading to HBO!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Man: Homecoming star Zendaya has officially signed on to star in a new HBO pilot called Euphoria.

The new series is being pegged as a gritty teen drama and is based off an Israeli series of the same name. According to the synopsis, Euphoria is a series centered around “drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.”

Zendaya will be playing the character of Rue in the upcoming drama. Her character is described as the series’ 17-year-old unreliable narrator who also happens to be a drug-addict.

The role is a huge departure from the 21-year-old actresses previous roles, which include Disney Channel hits K.C. Undercover and Shake It Up, as well as last year’s movie musical The Greatest Showman.

That being said, we’re sure fans of the rising star will be looking forward to seeing her play a character unlike one she’s ever portrayed before.

Zendaya isn’t the only young star who has been cast in the new HBO series.

Eleven other actors have also joined the cast of Euphoria, including Maude Apatow, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney.

There’s no word yet on when we can expect Euphoria to premiere on HBO.
