Zelda fans rejoice! Announced at today’s Nintendo Direct stream, Nintendo has announced not one, but two Legend of Zelda games! One is an entirely new adventure, and the other is a remake of the Gamecube bestseller Wind Waker.

Reports from IGN.com state that an untitled Zelda Wii U game is in development for the Wii U system. Also, the cel shaded Gamecube venture Wind Waker will enjoy a large graphical update, and an overall improved Wii U experience.

Concept for the Zelda HD title was shown off at 2011’s E3. It is not confirmed whether or not that footage would hold true to what the final product for this unnamed Wii U title will be. View that footage below:

IGN quoted Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma as stating that his team is “rethinking the conventions of Zelda.” Aonuma went on to speak of going back to the basics of what makes a Zelda adventure. Dungeons won’t need to be completed in a certain order, the game will no longer be single-player only. Overall, Aonuma and his team will be “creating a reborn Zelda.”

In other Zelda series news, 2003’s hit Gamecube title The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker will see a complete graphical overall. The lighting is said to be improved to further show off the graphical beauty of the game’s art style, along with controls being implemented with the Wii U’s gamepad. On top of new controls, Zelda fans will be able to play the game fully on the gamepad itself.
