Zayn Malik fans can rest easy knowing the singer is hard at work on his second album! The bad news is, we might have to wait a while before we get our hands on it.

In a brand new interview with The Fader, Zayn gave fans a much needed update on his forthcoming sophomore album, revealing that he’s actually made some pretty great headway on it.

The “Dusk Till Dawn” singer even went as far as to say that he’s “kind of finalized” his highly anticipated followup to Mind of Mine. As exciting as it is to hear he’s close to being done with the record, there’s a bit of a catch.

“Every day I find another song that I’m swapping out with another one. That’s why the album date hasn’t really come out yet. Even though the album is pretty much there, and I have the material, I’m still changing things here and there,” Zayn told The Fader.

Though the “Pillow Talk” singer didn’t want to give too much away, he did tease that his second offering might be easier to digest than some of the more experimental stuff he played around with in his debut solo album.

Though the singer says the new record will still feature some of his signature “thought-provoking” music, he also revealed that he made it a point to listen to what his fans were looking for when crafting his new album.

“I have to do something that’s a bit more mainstream because [the fans] want to listen to some fun stuff, rather than listen to depressing songs all the time,” explained the singer. “I appreciate that. I’ve took that on board. I’m trying to do some more fun stuff for them. I’ve got a few tricks on there.”

There’s no telling when we can expect to get our hands on Zayn’s sophomore album. For now, we’ll just have to settle for jamming out to his new collaborative single with Sia, “Dusk Till Dawn.”
