Zack Snyder has a pretty busy schedule with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opening this month and Justice League starting filming, but he says he wants to make a George Washington movie in the style of his film 300.

While speaking with Bloomberg on the press rounds for Batman v Superman, director Zack Snyder discussed filming a George Washington movie that would have the style of his widely-praised hit 300.

It may sound odd, but the director often gets inspiration from other people’s work, whether in comics or graphic novels, and it seems he’s interested in making an interesting 300-style film based around George Washington’s life.

In the interview with Bloomberg, writer Devin Leonard says, “Snyder is spending late nights in his cavernous office working on the upcoming Justice League movie. One of these days, he’d like to make one about George Washington in the style of 300. He has a picture in his office of the Revolutionary War hero crossing the icy Delaware on his way to decimate the British in the Battle of Trenton. ‘We were talking about it,’ Snyder says. ‘The first thing we asked was, well, how are we going to make it look? I pointed at this painting. It looks like ‘300.’ It’s not that hard.'”

One would think that Snyder will be insanely busy for the next few years with Batman v Superman sequels if the film is a box office hit, as he starts filming Justice League very soon, but he also seems interested in doing something with America’s first president.

It’s interesting to hear him say, “It’s not that hard,” when talking about how to make a film about George Washington look, and simply points toward a painting he has in his office of the Revolutionary War hero, seen above.

It’s hard to imagine the director tackling something like George Washington’s life, and what exactly would it be about? Are we looking at an Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter type of film, or will he aim to make a biopic with his dark and gritty style splashed on?

He’s definitely not putting all of his eggs in the superhero basket, which may be a good thing, as rumors suggest that WB is a bit worried about Batman v Superman’s box office. They reportedly wanted to delay Justice League’s filming until Dawn of Justice was a verified hit, but Snyder convinced them to move forward.
