Zac Efron is heading to Disney+ to remake an 80s classic!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zac Efron has signed on to star in an upcoming remake of Three Men and a Baby.

Directed by Leonard Nimoy, the original 1987 hit comedy starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Dansan as three bachelors living in the Big Apple who suddenly find their lives turned upside down when a baby gets dropped on their doorstep.

Shenanigans ensue as the three men must learn quick how to care for the infant, whom they quickly come to love.

The 1987 comedy was a hit at the box office and subsequently went on to spawn a sequel titled Three Men and a Little Lady, which hit the big screen in 1990.

Behind the scenes, the forthcoming remake is set to be produced by Gordon Gray, who previously worked with Disney on the uplifting sports drama, The Rookie, starring Dennis Quaid.

Currently, the film has yet to find a director, but a script for the remake has already been penned by Will Reichel.

Currently, there’s no word with regards to how closely the plot of the remake will resemble that of the 80s classic, so it’ll be interesting to see how Reichel and Disney adapt the story for the modern day.

Also shrouded in secrecy for the moment are specific details with regards to which character Zac Efron will play. Regardless, we’ll be curious to find out more as the project moves further and further into development.

Three Men and a Baby is the latest classic hit to get the remake treatment over at Disney+.

Other classic titles that are also gearing up to get either remade, rebooted, or revisited over at the streamer include Turner and Hooch, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and Home Alone.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see the Three Men and a Baby remake to hit Disney+, but Zac Efron fans can currently catch the High School Musical Star in the new docuseries, Down to Earth, streaming now on Netflix.
