Zac Efron and Russell Crowe will soon be starring opposite each other in director Peter Farrelly’s new film.

Casting is picking up steam on Green Book helmer Peter Farrelly’s next motion picture.

According to Deadline, actors Zac Efron and Russell Crowe are both currently in talks to join the cast of Farrelly’s The Greatest Beer Run Ever.

Also currently circling the project is actor Bill Murray, who previously worked with Farrelly on Kingpin and Osmosis Jones. Murray is reportedly in talks to join the cast in a supporting role.

Behind the camera, Apple is currently in talks to sign on to finance the project along with Skydance. The move would mean that The Greatest Beer Run Ever would debut via Apple TV+ as an Apple Original.

Others involved behind the scenes include fellow Green Book vet Brian Currie, as well as Pete Jones. Both Currie and Jones will work with Farrelly on writing the script for the film.

The forthcoming film is based off of Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue’s book, The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War.

Based on a true story, the Vietnam War-era book is set in 1967 and focuses on what transpires after Donohue leaves New York in an effort to find and share some beers with his childhood friends in the army.

Word of Farrelly’s plans to turn the book into a film first hit the internet back in July 2020. At the time, it was being reported that Dylan O’Brien and fellow Green Book vet Viggo Mortensen were both in talks to star.

Now, it’s looking like Zac Efron and Russell Crowe will assume the roles O’Brien and Mortensen were originally rumored for.

Currently, there’s no word on who Efron, Crowe, or Murray will play in The Greatest Beer Run Ever.
