Community season 6 will be short another actress when the show returns on Yahoo!. Yvette Nicole Brown is leaving the show.

The actress confirmed to TV Guide this afternoon that she will not be returning to Community for season 6 due to reasons involving her father.

“My dad needs daily care and he needs me,” Brown said in a statement. “The idea of being away 16 hours a day for five months, I couldn’t do it. It was a difficult decision for me to make, but I had to choose my dad.”

Said Community showrunners Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna, who released her from her contract, “Yvette was an integral part of Community and is irreplaceable. We are sad to see her go and wish her the very best.”

Brown told TV Guide that Harmon’s first concern was her father when she asked to leave. “He told me, ‘Yvette, I’m praying for your dad.'”

The actress is ready for whatever happens to her character on the show. “I am totally open to whatever Dan decides,” she said. “I’m glad it won’t be hard for them to explain where she is. She has three kids, a degree and a business. There are a lot of ways to explain her [departure].”

Although she’s leaving Community, Brown will have a role in the CBS show The Odd Couple. The reboot is less time consuming, according to the actress.

According to TV Guide, Community is currently looking for two new characters in light of Brown and Jonathan Banks’ departures — the latter of whom has signed on to the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul. “One is described as a woman who’s brought in as a consultant to help shape up the school. The other is a retired salesman who comes to Greendale to reinvent himself,” according to the report.
