The shortlist for the Han Solo spinoff movie has been revealed. Meet the candidates to play a young version of Harrison Ford’s beloved character!

Han Solo has certainly led an interesting life, both on screen and off, before and after we saw him in the first Star Wars movie. His backstory is garnering a lot of attention, especially now, so it’s no wonder a solo spinoff film is in the works.

On Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed the three actors who are most likely to nab the role that Harrison Ford made famous all those years ago.

First up we have Alden Ehrenreich, who played the lead in Beautiful Creatures and Hobie Doyle in Hail, Caesar! THR describes his Caesar role as scene-stealing. Creatures doesn’t exactly lend itself to a role like Han Solo, but it’s more important to see what the actor is currently achieving while auditioning for a role than what they’ve already done.

Next we have Jack Reynor. He played Shane Dyson in Transformers: Age of Extinction and will be voicing Brother Wolf in Jungle Book: Origins (the one being directed by Andy Serkis, not the one we’ve been getting all the trailers for lately). He looks a bit more like Chris Pratt than Harrison Ford, but he’s got the scruffy look down, and that’s not saying nothing.

Lastly, there’s Taron Egerton, who captured everyone’s attention as Eggsy in Kingsman: The Secret Service and currently stars in Eddie the Eagle. He’ll reprise his role for Kingsman 2. Egerton stole hearts in Kingsman, and his character managed to be a cocky asshole with a heart, and one you couldn’t help rooting for. Sound like anyone you know?

According to a Variety reporter, there are also a couple other people in the running:

Whoever ends up making the final cut will find themselves in a similar situation to Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, all three of which have been thrust into the spotlight on the biggest stage in the world. The actor playing young Han Solo will need to handle that with grace and convince audiences that they can balance the character’s wisecracks with his undeniable charm.

Who would you like to play a young Han Solo?
