Looks like Disney has found its live-action Tinker Bell in actress Yara Shahidi!

According to Deadline, Grown-ish star Yara Shahidi has officially been cast as Tinker Bell in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Peter Pan.

Titled Peter Pan and Wendy, the upcoming film hails from director David Lowery, who is no stranger to live-action adaptations. Specifically, Lowery previously served as director and co-writer on Disney’s 2016 live-action adaptation of Pete’s Dragon, starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford.

Lowery will be teaming up with Toby Halbrooks to co-write the script for Peter Pan and Wendy, which is expected to be slated for a traditional theatrical release.

Yara Shahidi is the latest to join the cast of the upcoming live-action adaptation following word earlier this summer that Jude Law has also joined the cast of the forthcoming family adventure.

Law is set to take on the role of Peter’s infamous foe, Captain Hook in Disney’s latest adaptation of author J.M. Barrie’s classic children’s novel.

Meanwhile, newcomers Alexander Moloney and Ever Anders will be playing the titular Peter Pan and Wendy Darling, respectively.

Baring a handful of casting announcements, there hasn’t been much information revealed with regards to what we can expect from Disney’s latest take on Peter Pan. Though it’s easy to assume the studio might opt to stay true to the original 1953 animated classic, it’s also just as possible that Disney might want to switch things up— especially given how many times Barrie’s tale of the boy who never grew up has been adapted for the big screen.

To that extent, we’ll be curious to see what Yara Shahidi’s take on Peter’s pal, Tinker Bell ends up being like.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect Peter Pan and Wendy to premiere.
