Both Microsoft and Nintendo are cutting the price of their consoles for the holiday season.

In preparation for the Wii U next month, a new Wii bundle will be priced at $129.99 and will come with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort on a single disc in addition to the Wii MotionPlus controller and nunchuck.

Expected to be on store shelves by October 28, this new bundle will replace Nintendo’s old $150 pack with a black Wii and a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

“Nearly six years after it launched, people are still attracted to the pure, inclusive fun of the Wii console,” said Nintendo of America executive sales & marketing VP Scott Moffitt, reports Polygon. “A new suggested retail price and the inclusion of two great games make it an easy choice for families looking for a great value this holiday season.”

Similarly, Microsoft is dropping the price for Xbox 360 holiday bundles in North America temporarily by $50, though it is not known for how long.

Bundles include a 250 GB Xbox 360 with a code to download Skyrim and a copy of Forza Motorsport 4 for $249.99, a 4GB console with Kinect and two games and 250 GB 360 with Kinect and three games for $349.99. Some retailers are offering the Halo 4 Limited Edition Xbox 360 bundle for the discounted price, also.
