If you’re looking to see the X-Men more frequently, you’re about to be in luck.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s summer sessions, Fox CEO Dana Walden confirmed that they’re continuing to work on a plan to bring the X-Men to television.

“We’re in negotiations with Marvel, we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to announce something soon,” he said (via EW). “We’re not closed on a deal yet, but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing.”

Fox heads had revealed that discussions were happening in January, but this latest update from Walden confirms that they’re still ongoing. It’s better than hearing the talks fell apart!

Walden also revealed that the X-Men TV show, which is being planned as a “regular, long-running show” (Read: Not a “limited event” series) would only include characters seen in the Fox films. In other words, don’t expect characters who appear on the Marvel side of the cinematic universe to make an appearance on the Fox show.

It’ll be interesting to see who Fox selects to star in their X-Men series. People like Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender are likely too busy to have a lead role in the show, so this may be a perfect opportunity for some of the lesser-known X-Men to have their time to shine.

With the quality of television programming at all-time highs right now, it seems like an X-Men show is the perfect way for Fox to give their heroes the additional attention they deserve. Let’s face it: The films have become very crowded with heroes, and anyone who’s read the X-Men comics knows that there are many more characters who could appear in front of the camera. A series would be a great way to bring more heroes to life without overloading the films. Need convincing? Just think of all those minutes that need filling throughout an entire season!

The news comes as Marvel and Disney ABC continue to create excellent television series centered around the characters Marvel Studios owns. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, and Daredevil have been beloved by viewers, and several more series are on the way (next up is Jessica Jones starring Krysten Ritter and David Tennant).

Who would you like to see star in an ‘X-Men’ TV series?

Meanwhile, Bryan Singer and the X-Men cast are currently shooting X-Men: Apocalypse which is slated to hit theaters May 27, 2016.
