Hot on the heels of the X-Men: First Class DVD release, producer Lauren Shuler Donner has offered some updates on X-Men sequels and spin-offs!

After the awesomeness that was X-Men: First Class, we are chomping at the bit for new information about future X-Men movies. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who is always quick to to talk about future projects, offered some interesting tidbits!

Shuler Donner talks about The Wolverine filming:

“I’m not sure when we’ll start. Maybe summer 2012 we’ll start shooting. It’s based on Hugh’s schedule, frankly. When he’s available, we’ll film. He’s doing ‘Les Miserables,’ and then he has to come and train for us. So it’s all dependent on him.”

Regarding Deadpool, Shuler Donner admits to the problems with his debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but assures that Ryan Reynolds will play the lead in the spin-off:

“Yes he was treated totally wrong in the Wolverine film and yes we will redeem him. It’s a different kind of movie. If you know ‘Deadpool’…it’s true to ‘Deadpool.’ So you know, it’ll be violent, and outrageous, and funny, and all that.”

Finally, about a First Class sequel:

“I hope so. We’re talking about it, you know, we’re seriously talking about it … We definitely want Matthew [Vaughn] to come back. Absolutely!”

This is awesome news for any X-Men or comic book fans! I’m sure we’ll be talking about all of this on the next episode of HeroHype!
