Toad, the classic X-Men character who plays a very important role in Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants is making a reprise in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Speaking to MTV News at the recent GIRLS premiere, actor Evan Jonigkeit (whose girlfriend is Zosia Mamet who plays Shoshanna) revealed that he will be reprising the character Toad in X-Men: Days of Future Past this summer. Fans of the X-Men movies will recall Toad playing a significant supporting role in the original X-Men movie way back in 2000. That version of Toad was played by Ray Park.

Jonigkeit didn’t say much about the character itself, but did give a few quick tidbits about what we can expect about him playing the younger version of one of Magneto’s right-hand men:

“X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it’s a generation story of how he came to be. It’s really cool.”

In terms of what exactly Toad will look like, it sounds like he may be slightly different than his appearance in the original X-Men movie which was also directed by Days of Future Past Director Bryan Singer:

“The aesthetics of the character are much different, and I’m not really allowed to say a whole lot more than that. It’s darker. I would say it’s a darker tone.”

Other members of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants include Quicksilver (who will appear in Days of Future Past, played by Evan Peters), Scarlet Witch and Mastermind.

Fans will have to wait until this summer when X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23rd. Watch the full interview with MTV News below:
