X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer reveals that Olivia Munn has been cast as Betsy Braddock, who is also known as the mutant Psylocke.

X-Men: Apocalypse has been gaining many new faces lately, and Olivia Munn is the latest, as Bryan Singer has announced via Twitter that the actress and former TV show host will play the mutant Psylocke.

Psylocke (Elizabeth “Betsy” Braddock) is a superhero that was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Herb Trimpe back in 1976. She first appeared in the Marvel U.K.’s Captain Britain, as a supporting character to her twin brother, Captain Britain.

She would later become the superhero and X-Men member Psylocke in 1986. She has psychic abilities, and at some point even obtained Jean Grey’s telekinesis. She has some ties to Wolverine and Jubilee, who actress Lana Condor has recently been cast to play.

Olivia Munn has been in a Marvel comic before, but only as an TV entertainment host, which she had experience doing in real life as the host of Attack of the Show!. She was in Iron Man 2, and while Fox owns the X-Men film rights, at least she has some ties to Marvel comics.

Her character is pretty interesting, and we’re definitely glad to see some more ladies joining the X-Men: Apocalypse cast. Let us know what you think about Munn joining the new sequel.
