20th Century Fox has released a new clip from X-Men: Apocalypse that shows C.I.A. agent Moira MacTaggert explaining dangerous cults to Xavier and Havok.

The clip, which has been titled “Moira’s Office,” shows Rose Byrne’s character explaining that she’s been keeping an eye on cults that have been following mutants who see them as a kind of second coming or sign of God.

Watch the clip below:

One in particular has her worried, as they have been following an ancient being they believe to be the first mutant ever. The powers they believe the mutant to have are greater than anyone else can posses, an all powerful mutant.

The being also always had four main followers who were his disciples, like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in the Bible, which Moira points out could be based on the mutant.

The clip cuts out there, but it’s interesting to see that Xavier may learn about Apocalypse before he is even awakened. Obviously Moira has turned to him for help, so her intention may be to stop the cult before anything terrible actually happens. I’m curious to see what Xavier’s move is after this in the film.

People are also buzzing at what this film could lead to next. Although there are no other current movies planned for the main X-Men franchise, Tye Sheridan, who is playing the young Cyclops, has revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he’s already signed on for two more movies. I’d be more surprised if they decided not to go forward with the franchise, even if the full cast doesn’t return.

What do you think about the new ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ clip?
