Director Bryan Singer has officially finalized his deal to direct X-Men: Apocalypse.

We’ve now learned that after X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s financial success, Bryan Singer will direct Apocalypse according to Deadline. This will be the first time in 10 years that Singer will direct two X-Men films back to back.

Deadline has also released some new info on the film’s plot, which can be seen below:

“Apocalypse takes place a decade after Days of Future Past and is a seamless next step in the story. The altering of time has unleashed a new and uniquely powerful enemy.”

“Charles (James McAvoy), Erik/Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Hank/Beast (Nicholas Hoult) are joined by young Cyclops, Storm, Jean and others as the X-Men must fight their most formidable foe yet: an ancient unrelenting force determined to cause an apocalypse unlike any in human history.”

The director recently said, “[Apocalypse] will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It’s something that’s always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers.”

In the after-credits scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past we saw a young Apocalypse, with many followers chanting his name.

It’s been reportedly that it’s unlikely we’ll see the same actor in the role in the new film, but it was fun to get a look at the mutant as he built Egypt’s great pyramids.

20th Century Fox has set a May 27, 2016 release date for X-Men: Apocalypse.
