At select theaters in the United States, Paramount will introduce a pricey “Mega Ticket” which will let you watch World War Z with a few bonuses.

The $48 World War Z Mega Ticket includes a 3D screening on June 19 (two days in advance of the nationwide release), a small popcorn, a HD download of the film when it’s released later this year, a pair of World War Z 3D glasses, and a limited edition poster.

The World War Z Mega Ticket will be available at the following locations:

– Orange County, California: Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 Imax & RPX
– Houston, Texas: Edwards Greenway Grand Palace Stadium 24 & RPX
– San Diego, California: Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 Imax & RPX
– Atlanta, Georgia: Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 16 Imax & RPX
– Philadelphia, Philadelphia: UA King of Prussia Stadium 16 Imax

As far as we know, this is an entirely new concept for the movie industry. We like the idea of a movie ticket with a bunch of bonuses, but we think this would work far better with an established franchise. For example, we’d greatly consider a pricier ticket for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire later this year if it came with an early screening, a poster, and other bonuses.

If this proves successful for Paramount, you can bet this type of promotion will occur in more theaters for future films. The timing of the announcement is funny because just yesterday George Lucas said that tickets are about to start costing a whole lot more.

World War Z stars Brad Pitt as a zombie apocalypse strikes earth. It opens in theaters June 21.

We’re curious: Would you pay this much for a movie ticket in your area? What film and bonuses would make the price worth it?
