Prometheus writer Damon Lindelof has decided against rewriting the Brad Pitt starring World War Z, with one of his fellow former Lost writers stepping up to the plate.

Last month it was announced that Lindelof would be “reworking” the films’ third act, said to be the reason for the zombie apocalypse epic’s delayed release date and scheduled reshoots. Fast forward just four weeks, and the writer has bowed out due to his commitment in adapting The Leftovers for HBO.

Deadline is reporting that Cabin In The Woods co-writer and director Drew Goddard will be taking up the reins of the rewrite, implementing Lindelof’s ideas as well as his own.

Are you disappointed to see the Prometheus scribe leave the project?
