A World War Z sequel is still in the works and Producer Brad Pitt is looking to an old friend to direct the second installment of the zombie thriller.

Last we heard about World War Z 2, Director J.A. Bayona left the project and Pitt and the rest of the creative team have been looking for a replacement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Fincher is in negotiations to join the sequel, reuniting with Pitt on yet another project. The pair have previously worked together on Seven, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The deal hasn’t been closed yet, but THR reports their sources saying Fincher is “surprisingly open to the idea.” Fans of the duo will certainly want to tune in to yet another chapter in the pair’s story, considering their previous projects have done incredibly well.

World War Z was a hit at the box office, pulling in a total of $540 million worldwide.

The film was based off the book of the same name by by Max Brooks, though the final product ended up being a far cry from the novel’s original premise. The film’s synopsis reads:

When former U.N. investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family get stuck in urban gridlock, he senses that it’s no ordinary traffic jam. His suspicions are confirmed when, suddenly, the city erupts into chaos. A lethal virus, spread through a single bite, is turning healthy people into something vicious, unthinking and feral. As the pandemic threatens to consume humanity, Gerry leads a worldwide search to find the source of the infection and, with luck, a way to halt its spread.
