Wonder Woman fans will have to wait even longer than originally expected before they can head out to see Wonder Woman 1984 in theaters.

According to Variety, Warner Bros., has issued a brand new theatrical release date for the highly anticipated, Wonder Woman 1984.

The sequel, which has been delayed quite a few times due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, will now hit theaters on December 25, 2020.

Before movie theaters were forced to shutter due to the current coronavirus pandemic, Warner Bros., had initially planned to release the Gal Gadot-starring sequel in theaters on June 5.

The highly anticipated sequel was subsequently rescheduled for a late summer release on August 14. Prior to its most recent shift, it was slated to hit theaters on October 2.

While no one expected for the film to suffer a six month delay, in a statement announcing its new December release date, director Patty Jenkins said she hopes fans won’t mind waiting just a bit longer before they can experience the sequel.

“First and foremost let me say how much Gal [Gadot] and I love all our devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world, and your excitement for WW84 couldn’t make us happier or more eager for you to see the movie,” said Jenkins in a statement.

“Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hoping you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!”

Wonder Woman 1984 flies into theaters on December 25, 2020.
