Despite reports that The Wolf of Wall Street‘s release date is going to be delayed, a new report explains that Martin Scorsese is determined to finish the final edit to prevent any delays.

When we initially reported the potential delay, almost no one besides director Martin Scorsese had seen the film.

Now that Paramount executives have been given a chance to see the early cut of the film, it appears that there is still more work left to be done in order for it to be released into theaters on time.

There’s a new report now from Showbiz 411 (via Collider) that director Martin Scorsese and his longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker are working extremely hard to finish the final cut of the film by November 25.

After that date, Martin has to leave to be a judge at the Marrakech Film Festival. If he’s able to finish the movie by November 25, this will also give Paramount the time they need to build up a promotional campaign for its December release.

While we reported that the most likely case would be a delay until 2014, this at least gives us some hope that Scorsese has intentions of finishing the film for a late December release. If he is able to finish the film, the release date will be moved from the 15 to the 25.

The film will undoubtedly be a big Oscar contender, and the studio wouldn’t want to sacrifice any awards by having it play before Oscar season.

There’s also a report that we’ll be seeing a new Wolf of Wall Street trailer during October. We’re excited for this film, and after the first trailer spread like wildfire, we can’t wait to see what the second trailer has in store for Scorsese fans.

The Wolf of Wall Street stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, and Matthew Mcconaughey. The film’s original release date was set for November 15, but right now it seems we may be looking at a Christmas day release date.
