Wizards of Waverly Place stars David Henrie and Selena Gomez apparently have talked extensively (albeit unofficially) about planning a series reboot.

Wizards of Waverly Place ended back in 2012, and even though it was less than 10 years ago, the show’s stars are already talking about a series reboot. David Henrie and Selena Gomez have reportedly had several conversations discussing where a series reboot could pick back up with the Russo family.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Henrie expressed some of the discussions he has had with Gomez about a potential reboot. According to Henrie, it is something the former on-screen siblings discuss “all the time.”

Unfortunately, the actor was quick to clarify that the reboot wasn’t a formal thing. However, it hasn’t stopped the duo from working hard to plan out the direction of a potential show. Henrie explained it all to ET, saying, “Selena and I sit and talk about what would the reboot be, and we have a whole take. We have a whole thing.”

So what do Gomez and Henrie envision when they think of returning to the show? Well, at the beginning, the actors think the family should start out pretty divided.

“We want to start the show like a few years later. Start them off at the worst place ever so that way throughout the series you give them a nice, beautiful arch of reuniting. Start them off divided. Alex is a fashionista, off killing it in some other part of the realm,” he continues. “Justin’s, like, the principal [of WizTech] who has a family now… [Jake T. Austin’s] Max has the sub shop, but it’s run down. Start us all completely discombobulated and then throughout the course of the series you bring us all together.”

Of course, if you follow the actors on social media, you’d know that this isn’t the first time the two have thought about where their characters would be today. However, with Disney reviving such a huge swath of their older, beloved shows, we can’t help but wonder if a Wizards of Waverly Place reboot could actually be in the cards, especially with the launch of Disney+ right around the corner.

Disney has already brought the cast of That’s So Raven back in Raven’s Home, and they plan to revive another iconic early aughts series Lizzie McGuire on Disney+. Of course, both shows were much older than Wizards with both That’s So Raven and Lizzie McGuire ending well before 2010.

Time will tell if we’ll get to check back in on the Russo family, but until then, we’ll just have to hope that we can get a hearty helping of Wizards of Waverly Place reruns when Disney+ launches.
