The Wizarding World of Harry Potter lands at three Universal theme parks have been collectively open for years, but none have hosted holiday events — until now.

Universal Studios Japan has announced a Death Eater event for the Halloween season which will bring the dark wizards into the Wizarding World park from September 14 to November 6. Universal says the land “will experience moments of darkness” in which Death Eaters bring their horrific attitudes to Hogsmeade.

“When night falls, this peaceful, cheerful world of magic transforms, experiencing moments of darkness. The Death Eaters appear in Hogsmeade wearing black hoods and masks. Guests can experience the thrill and terror of coming face-to-face with the magical might of The Death Eaters™, discovering an unprecedented feeling,” Universal writes on their site.

They add that the Death Eater shows are being created “on an overwhelming scale and with meticulous attention to detail.” Concert art, above, shows a series of Death Eaters surrounded by lightning and explosion effects around Hogsmeade.

In addition, guests will be able to enjoy new food items at The Three Broomsticks, and during the daytime fans will be able to trick or treat! “Guests can experience a new kind of trick-or-treating in which Hogsmeade™ villagers will be handing out sweets to kids and guests.” Concept art, below, depicts barrels of candy available.

These Halloween additions sound great! Sadly, Universal Hollywood and Orlando have yet to announce anything special for Halloween at their respective Wizarding Worlds. Perhaps Japan’s announcement foreshadows some good news on the horizon for the American Harry Potter lands.
