The original Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando is getting an all-new thrill ride!

The attraction will be built in Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, but it’s coming at the cost of another ride: Universal has announced that Dragon Challenge will be closing to make room, and the coaster’s last day of operation will be September 4. The new ride will take over the (massive) area that the TriWizard Tournament-themed Dragon Challenge, previously known as Dueling Dragons prior to the Wizarding World re-theming, currently occupies.

Universal’s blog post does not go into specifics about the new ride, but Hypable heard earlier this year that the new attraction will be a dark ride involving the Forbidden Forest and Floo Powder.

The theme park’s blog post about the new ride is a real tease, offering some enticing clues about the project: “This all-new thrill ride will take you deeper into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where you will encounter some of your favorite characters and creatures,” they write. “It’ll be unlike anything we’ve ever done before and it will be fun for the entire family.”

“The new attraction will be one of the most highly-themed coaster experiences we’ve created. It will combine a new level of storytelling with an action-packed adventure…and a few surprises along the way.”

Like with all Wizarding World attractions, Universal is working with Warner Brothers to develop the ride. Sadly no concept art was released today. The announcement seems to have been made only to notify guests of Dragon Challenge closing in just over a month.

“This ride is going to redefine the category and transport you to thrilling places, drawing you into even more exciting adventures within the wizarding world. It’s going to be the perfect addition to Hogsmeade,” Universal writes.

Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World last expanded in 2014 with the opening of Diagon Alley and the Hogswarts Express.
