Though it was expected, a representative of Universal Orlando has confirmed that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will include The Leaky Cauldron restaurant at the Diagon Alley expansion.

Universal Creative executive producer Mike West specifically mentioned the Leaky Cauldron in a speaking engagement at World Travel Market recently. This is the first time the restaurant has been mentioned by one of the theme parks’ higher ups.

Recent promotional art (which we shared with you in October) included what looked like a sign for The Leaky Cauldron. The fictional restaurant is located in Diagon Alley in J.K. Rowling’s story, so it’s no surprise that it’ll come to life in The Wizarding World Orlando’s expansion.

At Universal Orlando’s Hogsmeade land is The Three Broomsticks restaurant which offers a variety of British food like fish and chips.

In the books by Rowling, the Leaky Cauldron is a pub that serves as an entry point to Diagon Alley and by extension Knockturn Alley. It is one of Harry’s first glimpses into the Wizarding World during Sorcerer’s Stone. Hagrid takes him through the pub to get to Diagon Alley, and while passing through he’s greeted by Tom the innkeeper. Several pub visitors are interested in his arrival as well. In Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry stays the night at the Cauldron’s inn and meets Cornelius Fudge there.

The Wizarding World’s Diagon Alley expansion is expected to open in summer 2014. A working Hogwarts Express train will connect the new land with the existing Hogsmeade land at Islands of Adventure. Late last month Universal placed the train on tracks, and official photos of the attraction were released.
