A few months ago, we told you that Johnny Depp will star in Disney’s new rendition of The Lone Ranger, due out in May 2013.  Originally cast as the villain, actor and country singer Dwight Yoakam, has dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.  New reports state that William Fichtner has been hired to replace Yoakam’s role as the bad guy.

Armie Hammer will star as the title role, alongside Johnny Depp as The Lone Ranger’s Native American companion, Tonto.  The film will be directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

William Fichtner has played many supporting roles in blockbuster films, including The Dark Knight, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.  Fitchner also just completed filming the upcoming movie Elysuim, which also stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster.

Thanks to Deadline for the tip.
