After almost nine years apart, Will and Grace are set to reunite, as Eric McCormack schedules a guest appearance on Debra Messing’s Mysteries of Laura.

One of the most iconic shows of its time, Will & Grace followed best friends Will (McCormack) and Grace (Messing) as they navigated life and love together. The twist in their relationship was that the pair would be perfect for each other, if not for the fact that Will liked men.

Will and Grace did date once, however – and when Eric McCormack reunites with Debra Messing on her new series Mysteries of Laura, it’s practically a continuation of that ill-fated romantic saga.

Deadline reports that McCormack will play “roguish, arrogant-as-can-be heart surgeon” Dr. Andrew Devlin, Laura’s ex-fiancée. He pops back into her life when Laura begins an investigation into the death of his ex-wife.

It’s as iconic an on-screen reunion as when Matthew Perry guest starred on Cougar Town, and tried to seduce Friends co-star Courteney Cox’s character Jules.

As fans of British TV and film (where the same group of actors continue to join forces in new constellations), we’re excited to see more of these high-profile reunions which brings some of our favorite pairings (romantic or otherwise) back together.

Now we just need Sean Hayes to pop by Parks & Recreation as Tammy Two (Megan Mullally)’s new boy toy, and we could pretty much just retire.

The Mysteries of Laura airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
