The comedy duo is reuniting once again, and this time they’re taking on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

The pair will be doing what they do best — comedy — when they star in Holmes & Watson.

The news comes via Deadline, which reports that Etan Cohen will sit in the director’s chair. The movie will be PG-13 and add a comedic twist to oft-adapted story.

The original plan was to team up Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen for the project, but it didn’t end up working out and Reilly joined the movie. Filming will begin in late November of this year, which means we could potentially be looking at a 2017 release date.

I know your next question is: Who’s playing who? Ferrell will take on the mantle of the super sleuth and Reilly will play the good doctor.

There’s not much else we know about the film at the moment. I, for one, want to know if it’ll be a period piece or if it’ll be set in modern times.

As many of you know, there is plenty of Sherlock Holmes to go around right now. The BBC’s Sherlock series 4 is closing in on its premiere date, Elementary is still going strong on CBS, and Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed a third Sherlock movie is in the works for him.

Adding a comedic twist to this Sherlock Holmes adaptation will certainly allow it to stand out from a crowd, but although the studio and the film’s stars are banking on Sherlock’s continued popularity, it wouldn’t be surprising if audiences are beginning to get burnt out.

Then again, Ferrell and Reilly have a proven track record with Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, so anything is possible.

Are you looking forward to yet another Sherlock Holmes adaptation?
